Martial Arts Training in HSR Layout
From JKA Shotokan Karate to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA, we bring all disciplines under one roof. Train with experienced instructors in a space built for growth, discipline, and community.
The Dojo Code of Courage, Respect, and Discipline applies to all arts we teach, from the striking of Karate to the grappling of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
This montage showcases the variety of disciplines offered at The Dojo, from Kyokushin and JKA Karate to BJJ and striking. We are a place where warriors are forged in many forms.
Our kids' Jiu-Jitsu class in session. We believe learning grappling arts at a young age builds incredible problem-solving skills and physical awareness.
A group of practitioners after a tough No-Gi grappling session. The camaraderie built while "rolling" is a core part of our dojo's community spirit.
Good rounds with good people. We often have friends and visitors from other gyms come to train, enriching our BJJ and grappling community.
About More Than Karate: A Multi-Disciplinary Dojo
Unlike specialized studios that stick to one discipline, our training environment lets you cross-train across different martial arts. You can switch between the precision of JKA Shotokan karate, the full-contact reality of Kyokushin, or the ground strategy of BJJ within the same facility. We prioritize the fundamentals of every art, so whether you are drilling kata or rolling on the mats, you get the same disciplined focus that keeps our community growing.
At The Dojo, we believe martial arts shouldn't be siloed. By bringing BJJ, Karate, MMA, and Muay Thai into one space in HSR Layout, we allow our members to develop a more rounded skillset.
Why a Multi-Disciplinary Approach?
When you train in only one art, you often miss how it complements others. A striker who understands the mechanics of grappling becomes a better fighter, and a grappler who practices karate conditioning gains better control and power. Our curriculum is designed to make you more than a fighter; it builds you for life.
What to Expect
- JKA Shotokan & Kyokushin: Authentic karate training linked with the Japan Karate Association. Whether you want the traditional form or the full-contact intensity, our sessions cover kihon (basics), kata, and kumite.
- BJJ & Grappling: Our BJJ program is built on live sparring and practical self-defense. We run both Gi and No-Gi classes that are open to all skill levels.
- MMA & Striking: We bridge boxing, Muay Thai, and wrestling techniques. These classes are high-intensity and focus on real-world applications rather than just fitness drills.
The Dojo Vibe
Our studio is more than just a training floor. We have showers, a pantry, and a space where you can focus entirely on your practice. We avoid the 'gym' atmosphere; this is a place for discipline. We value the 'Benevolent Person is Invincible' philosophy, meaning we push each other to be better, but we do it with respect. Whether you are a total beginner looking for self-defense or an experienced fighter, you will find your path here.
