About Kyokushin Karate: The Path of Power
Unlike point-sparring styles, Kyokushin at The Dojo is full-contact. You will spend as much time on heavy bag work, makiwara striking, and conditioning as you do on katas. Expect to spar, expect to sweat, and do not be surprised when you leave feeling completely drained but sharp. We train hard so you can build real thick skin.
If you are looking for a gentle, non-contact workout, this is not it. Kyokushin is known as the strongest karate, and at our HSR Layout studio, we keep that spirit alive. Our curriculum is built on the basics: Kihon (fundamentals), Kata (forms), and Kumite (full-contact sparring).
Training with us is not just about punching the air. You will be hitting pads, working the makiwara, and engaging in controlled full-contact sparring sessions that test your resolve. It is intense, yes, but it is the fastest way to build confidence and self-defense skills. Our sessions run for 60 to 75 minutes, and we offer batches that fit your routine, whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced practitioner looking to sharpen your technique.
We are officially linked to the Japan Karate Association lineage, meaning the techniques you learn here are rooted in tradition, not just made up. Sensei Vinayak Shetty, a IV Dan Black Belt, leads these sessions. He does not just bark orders; he guides you through the nuances of every stance and strike.
Regarding the logistics, we have morning batches, including our 6:00 AM slots, which are perfect for those who want to get their training in before the workday starts. We maintain a clean, professional studio with proper tatami mats, showers, and a pantry. You will need a standard white Karate Gi for these classes, which you can source separately. Whether your goal is fitness, grading, or learning to defend yourself, you will find a consistent, disciplined path here.
