About this collection
These sessions are a significant step up from our weekly classes, designed as immersive intensives where we focus on technique, cultural context, and that infectious 'Wassa Wassa' energy. When we host guest teachers like Kelvin Kew, we don't just show you how to play—we break down the specific patterns and nuances of the TTMDA curriculum, ensuring every beat you play connects you to the true spirit of the Djembe.
Our workshops and intensives are crafted for anyone who wants to move beyond the basics and understand the 'why' behind the rhythm. We teach strictly following the TTMDA (Tam Tam Mandingue Djembe Academy) curriculum, which was established by my guru, the late Grandmaster Mamady Keïta. This method isn't about memorizing beats; it is about learning the traditional West African way—connecting the sound to the story and the song to the movement.
What You Will Experience
- Deep Dive Learning: Unlike our casual drum circles, these intensives focus on specific rhythms, proper hand technique, and the cultural history of the Manding people.
- International Standards: We frequently host international master teachers like Kelvin Kew from Singapore, giving you direct access to world-class guidance right here in India.
- Structured Progress: Whether you are in Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, or Bangalore, our workshop formats are designed to help you build muscle memory and rhythm aptitude efficiently.
Who This Is For
These intensives are open to everyone. If you have done our weekly classes and want to level up, or if you are a musician looking to add percussion to your skill set, you will find value here. We provide all the gear—you just need to bring your willingness to learn and a little bit of josh (enthusiasm).
We regularly host these sessions in top-tier arts spaces like Artsphere in Pune, Arts in Motion in Mumbai, and Shoonya in Bangalore. Because these are intensive sessions with limited capacity, we recommend securing your spot early. Each workshop is a stand-alone experience, so you can join regardless of your prior exposure to our curriculum.
