Hands-on Pottery Workshops and Studio Experiences
Step into Studio Karva, where we get our hands dirty and learn the rhythm of clay. From team-building retreats to creative weekends, this is where our community gathers to build, break, and grow together.
Welcome to my studio, a place where creativity and community come together. This is a glimpse from a team building retreat, where everyone is lost in the moment, shaping clay and making memories.
There is a special kind of magic when a parent and child create together. Here, a mother and daughter proudly show the little clay elephants they sculpted during a weekend family workshop.
It was a joy to host a corporate team for a morning of mindful clay work. This video shows the energy of the session, with team members trying both hand-building techniques and the potter's wheel.
A birthday party at the studio is always full of laughter and fun. Here, a group of children celebrate a special day by making their own clay creations before cutting the cake.
This is the feeling of clay. The video captures the intense focus and sensory experience of working on the potter's wheel, showing how a form can collapse and be reborn through practice.
What a wonderful outcome. This is a group of architecture students I taught, proudly gathered around a table filled with the pieces they created during our foundation in clay workshop.
This is me in my element, at the potter's wheel in my studio. I believe in the therapeutic power of clay, and it is my greatest joy to share this passion with everyone who walks through my door.
About Featured
Most of my sessions at the Govandi studio are designed for absolute beginners, so do not stress if you have never touched clay before. We keep the groups intimate—usually 5 to 25 people—to ensure everyone gets enough time on the wheel and guidance on hand-building techniques. Since we are in an industrial, open-air space, wear something comfortable that you do not mind getting a little dusty, and bring a curious mindset.
My approach to pottery is rooted in the process rather than just the final product. When you join a workshop at Studio Karva, whether it is a corporate team-building retreat or a parent-child session, we go through the entire cycle of creation. This includes wedging the clay, learning to center it on the wheel, and trying hand-building techniques like coiling or slab work.
We operate out of an industrial estate in Govandi East, Mumbai. It is a non-AC, well-ventilated space that keeps us grounded and connected to the elements. Please remember that pottery is a slow craft. While you will create your pieces during the 3-hour session, the clay needs time to dry and go through a bisque firing in our kiln. Your finished creations will be ready for pickup 3 to 4 weeks after your event.
I have been practicing since 2004, and I believe art should be accessible and real. You will not find sterile, corporate vibes here. Instead, you will find a community that encourages you to try, fail, and start over. If you are planning a group visit, get in touch early so we can reserve the studio space for your team.
