I weave dance and theatre together to tell stories that matter. Whether it is a grand dance drama with hundreds of students or an intimate character performance, my work is about expressing our cultural roots through movement and drama.

The grand finale of 'Navarasa Ramayana', a production I choreographed for my alma mater with 620 students. Seeing them all on stage is a truly overwhelming and proud moment.

I love character portrayal. Here are three different roles I played in the dance drama 'Karunada Vaibhava', from a bearded king to a wise sage.

As a narrator and performer in 'Shakti Stuti', our annual day event. The production explored the different forms of the Goddess and the power of womanhood.

A dramatic scene from 'Shakti Stuti', depicting the battle between the Goddess and a demon. Dance dramas allow us to tell epic stories through movement and expression.

A photo from my own Rangapravesha (debut dance performance) photoshoot 25 years ago. This was the beginning of my journey as a professional dancer.

The invitation for my senior student Dharitri's Rangapravesha. It is a moment of immense pride to present a student's debut performance.

A beautiful shot of dancer Malini Agrahar performing at Kappanna Angala. Her dedication and technical skill were truly inspiring to watch.

About this collection

Directing a production with hundreds of students requires more than just choreography; it demands logistical precision, from costume coordination to managing diverse skill levels. When you work with me, you get that same dedication, whether we are building a large-scale dance drama or focusing on the delicate nuances of character study for a solo performance.

For me, choreography is about geometry, rhythm, and storytelling. Whether I am directing group formations for school productions like 'Navarasa Ramayana' or coaching a student for their Rangapravesha, the goal is always to keep the spirit of the performance alive. In productions such as 'Karunada Vaibhava', I focus on the kaleidoscopic movements and pattern transitions that make the visual narrative compelling.

It is not just about the dance; it is about the emotional arc of the character. When I teach, I focus on the basics: body language, stage presence, and the ability to step into another person's shoes. If you are looking to stage a dance drama, whether in Bangalore or beyond, I bring a collaborative approach. I coordinate costumes, light design, and music to ensure the production is cohesive. My studio, Kappanna Angala, serves as a hub for these experiments, offering a space where classical techniques meet modern storytelling. I do not just teach steps; I help you find the story within your movement.
