300-Hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training
Deepen your practice and understanding of Vedanta with our four-week intensive residential course in the hills of Amboli.
During the Level 2 Teacher Training, I provide hands-on assistance for advanced postures like Vrischikasana. This course is designed to deepen a teacher's personal practice and understanding.
A student in the advanced teacher training course works on a deep backbend with my support. The YTTC-II is a transformative experience for those wishing to expand their knowledge of Hatha yoga.
The study of philosophy is a key component of the Level 2 course. We explore complex concepts from Vedanta and Raja Yoga to provide a deeper context for the physical practices.
About Yoga Teacher Training: Level 2 (300-Hour)
The Level 2 course is a significant step beyond foundational training, shifting the focus from teaching mechanics to internalizing the deeper philosophy of yoga. While Level 1 establishes the habit of discipline, this month-long immersion demands a higher level of focus, where we explore the subtleties of advanced Pranayama, Sanskrit literacy, and the Raja Yoga Sutras of Patanjali under direct mentorship. It is designed for those who are ready to move from understanding the postures to living the principles.
Our Approach to Advanced Training
This 300-hour course is intended for graduates of our 200-hour program who wish to attain RYT-500 status. The curriculum is rigorous, designed to facilitate a profound shift in your Sadhana (spiritual practice). We move past the basics of Hatha yoga into the complexities of Raja Yoga and Vedanta philosophy.
The Curriculum
- Advanced Practice: Daily, multi-session practice of asanas, advanced pranayama, and bandhas.
- Vedanta & Philosophy: In-depth study of the Upanishads and Raja Yoga Sutras to provide a framework for self-inquiry.
- Sanskrit Literacy: Introduction to the language of yoga to aid in the study of traditional texts.
- Direct Mentorship: A high frequency of classes are taught personally by Swami Govindananda, ensuring you receive guidance rooted in his years of experience with the Sivananda lineage.
Life in the Ashram
To support this depth of study, we maintain a traditional ashram environment in Amboli. You will follow a strict daily regimen that includes morning and evening satsang, meditation, and chanting. The diet is strictly sattvic (vegetarian, without onion or garlic) to keep the mind clear and focused. Students are expected to maintain silence (Mauna) during designated periods, providing the necessary conditions for self-study and internal growth. This is a commitment to a disciplined lifestyle, away from the distractions of the outside world.
