About Specialized Yoga & Philosophy Courses
I guide people who want to dig way deeper than just yoga postures. My courses are for those who feel there’s something more to life and want to explore the mind, body, and spirit through ancient wisdom.
What Happens Here
- Most courses are residential, at my ashram in the quiet Amboli hills. No city distractions, just the chance to focus on yourself.
- Every day is a mix of study, practice, and honest reflection.
- We do Hatha yoga, pranayama, and lots of meditation.
- There's chanting, group discussions, and karma yoga (selfless service).
- Food is simple, vegetarian, and sattvic - nothing fancy, but it keeps the mind clear.
What You’ll Study
- The main thing: Vedanta & Upanishads. We look at big questions like “Who am I?” and how to find real peace. Even beginners can start with Tatvabodha, or join an Upanishad online course if you can’t travel.
- We dive into Patanjali Yoga Sutras application—learning to handle life better, not just sitting in silence.
- For those wanting more, there’s Jnana Yoga intensive program, chakra sadhana, mudras, and even old-school texts like Samkhya and Hatha Yoga Pradipika.
Some days are tough, honestly. Facing your own mind isn’t always easy. But if you’re truly curious, this path can change everything.

My Story
Hari Om. We’re Sivananda Yoga Vidya Peetham, started by Swami Govindananda after years with his Guru at Sivananda Ashram, Kerala. Used to be in the world of Physics and Education, but spiritual life pulled stronger. Since ’87, it’s been all about sharing yoga and Vedanta—sometimes with jokes, always with clarity. Our joy is seeing folks find their own inner spark, not just follow instructions. Amboli hills, good vibes, living truth.
My Work
Traditional Yoga Courses & Retreats - We run Amboli yoga retreats, teacher trainings (YTTC-1, YTTC-2), and Hatha Yoga Sadhana Intensive.
Deep Dive Philosophy Sessions - Join us for Vedanta philosophy immersion, Upanishads, Yoga Sutras, plus Mudra and Chakra workshops.
Sivananda Lineage Approach - We stick to five yoga principles - asana, pranayama, vegetarian food, meditation, and positive thinking.
Everyone’s Welcome - Beginner or advanced, you just need sincere interest. No fancy poses needed, just commitment.
Ashram Life Experience - Life here means discipline, sattvic meals, nature walks, and real connection—sometimes tough, always real.
