Authentic Northeastern Flavours in Mumbai
From steaming bamboo baskets of momos to the fiery kick of King Chilli, we bring the true soul of Northeast India straight to Juhu. Discover the dishes we grew up with.
This video from Mumbai Foodie beautifully captures what we are all about. It shows our unique thalis, the famous Singju salad, juicy momos, and the spicy crisp pork. It’s a perfect introduction to the diverse and authentic flavours of Northeast India that I wanted to bring to Mumbai.
A feast of our handcrafted momos, steamed to perfection in traditional bamboo baskets. This spread shows the variety we offer, each dumpling filled with spiced ingredients and served with our signature clear soup and dipping sauces. This is the heart of Himalayan comfort food.
Our U-Morok Chicken Wings, glazed in a fiery, house-made sauce. The star ingredient is the U-Morok, or King Chilli, from Northeast India, which gives these wings a unique smoky heat. They are garnished with fresh spring onions, sesame seeds, and served with lime to balance the spice.
A soulful bowl of our Prawns Thukpa. This traditional Himalayan noodle soup is made with a rich, flavourful broth, tender noodles, crisp vegetables like cabbage and carrots, and topped with perfectly grilled prawns. It’s a complete, nourishing meal that feels like a warm hug.
This is Singju, the dish that gave our restaurant its name. It’s a traditional Manipuri salad with a crunchy mix of fresh vegetables, lotus stem, herbs like perilla and fish mint, and a punchy dressing with fermented fish. It’s a bold flavour adventure in every bite.
Our Jhol Momos are a true taste of the Himalayas. These delicate steamed dumplings are served swimming in a tangy and spicy broth, or 'jhol', made with a base of sesame, garlic, and a hint of mustard oil. The creamy texture of the broth perfectly complements the juicy filling of the momos.
Hearing from our guests makes everything worthwhile. This video captures the genuine reactions and heartfelt words from people who have experienced Singju. It’s wonderful to see them enjoy the authentic Northeastern and Himalayan flavours we work so hard to create.
A glimpse of our home in Mumbai. I designed Singju to be a cozy and welcoming space that reflects the culture of the Northeast. The top image shows our intimate dining area, while the bottom image shows the entrance, inviting you into a world of authentic Himalayan flavour.
About Featured
If you are trying us for the first time, our Jhol Momos are the best introduction to our kitchen. We simmer the Jhol broth using a rich blend of roasted sesame, garlic, and mustard oil, giving it a complexity that pairs perfectly with the tender, handcrafted dumplings. It is not just about the heat, but about that savoury, earthy balance that defines our home cooking.
At Singju, we believe food is a way to share our roots. We are tucked away in Juhu, creating a space where the bold, authentic flavours of the Northeast and the Himalayas meet the comfort that every Mumbaikar craves.
Our Regional Roots
We don't do shortcuts. Whether it is our Manipuri Singju salad, which brings together fermented fish, lotus stem, and fresh herbs, or our Northeastern thalis that come served on traditional brass plates, every item on our menu is a direct reflection of our heritage. You will find that our thalis are the perfect way to experience the diversity of the region, featuring staples like rice, dal, and authentic regional curries.
The Himalayan Influence
Our love for Himalayan cuisine shows in our hand-folded momos and comforting bowls of Thukpa. The momos are steamed in bamboo baskets to lock in the juices, while our Thukpa and Ramen bowls are built on slow-simmered, umami-rich broths. If you are feeling adventurous, ask for our U-Morok wings. We use the King Chilli (Bhoot Jolokia), which provides a smoky, intense heat that is a true test for any spice lover.
A Piece of Home
We designed our space to feel like a slice of the Northeast right here in Mumbai. Surrounded by bamboo and brass, we want you to feel the warmth of our hospitality from the moment you walk in. Chalo, try karo—we invite you to step away from the usual and experience the flavours we have been missing ourselves.
