Authentic Sitar Performances for Baithaks & Events
Whether it is a quiet baithak, a corporate gathering, or a stage concert, my sitar performances are rooted in the meditative traditions of the Rampur Senia Gharana. Let’s create a space for music that speaks to the soul.
This moment from a performance in Pune captures the joy of creating music together. For me, playing the sitar, especially in an intimate baithak setting, is about this connection with fellow artists and the audience.
On stage performing a Dhamaar in Raag Bihag. It was the first time I attempted this complex composition live, a challenge I took on with the encouragement of my Guru.
Playing a fast-paced Jhaala in Raag Multani at a contemplative event. The goal here was not entertainment, but to create music that revolves around introspection and healing.
A clip from my last concert of 2024 at the Pandit Debesh Moitra Sitar Utsav in my hometown, Jamshedpur. It was an honor to pay my respects to such an eminent artist.
A snippet from my recital at the Parampara Yuva Mahotsav in Pune. Here I am playing a Drut Teentaal in Raag Patdeep, a fast-paced composition.
This was my first concert in Delhi, an intimate 'baithak' for Asawari. The audience was so receptive that I was inspired to play a full half-hour Alaap before moving into the gats.
Performing at a formal event like the U.P. International Trade Show allows me to set a unique, calm mood. Here, I'm in an impromptu jugalbandi, showing how the sitar can create a sophisticated ambiance for corporate and official gatherings.
About this collection
For intimate baithaks, I bring a traditional acoustic setup that works beautifully for smaller groups, requiring only a simple carpet or raised platform. If you are planning a larger corporate or concert event, I coordinate closely with your technical team regarding sound checks and equipment, ensuring the subtle nuances of the sitar remain clear for your entire audience.
My approach to a live performance is always a journey rather than a simple show. I like to start with a slow, contemplative Alaap to let the Raga breathe, slowly building into the rhythm of the Jor and Jhaala, before finishing with fixed compositions or Gats.
Why my approach is different
I do not play just to entertain. My music is a sadhana—a spiritual practice. Whether I am playing for a satsang in Gurgaon or a formal trade show, I focus on creating a mood that is peaceful and engaging. You will not find background noise in my sets; you will find music that commands attention, even in corporate settings where people need to connect and converse.
Performance Formats
- Intimate Baithaks: Best for art appreciation circles or gatherings of up to 30 people. This is an unplugged, acoustic experience where the audience sits close to the artist.
- Corporate & Ambient Events: I provide continuous, soothing instrumental music perfect for dinners or networking, ensuring a sophisticated, calm ambiance.
- Concert Recitals: For larger audiences, I bring a more energetic performance, often including a senior-grade tabla player for intense jugalbandi and technical interplay.
I am always happy to perform traditional classical pieces, devotional songs, or even light Rabindra Sangeet, depending on the vibe you want for your event. Galti maaf if I am too passionate about my Raags, but I believe the music should move you.
