From the quiet introspection of a daily riyaz to the grandeur of a concert stage, this is the music of the Rampur Senia Gharana. Explore the sound of my sitar, captured in both intimate baithaks and formal recitals.

This moment from a performance in Pune captures the joy of creating music together. For me, playing the sitar, especially in an intimate baithak setting, is about this connection with fellow artists and the audience.

Here is a glimpse of the Dhrupad baaj of my Rampur Senia Gharana. This is a 'Kharaj Jor' in Raag Bihag, a meditative and slow-building piece that focuses on the deep, resonant notes of the sitar.

Performing at a formal event like the U.P. International Trade Show allows me to set a unique, calm mood. Here, I'm in an impromptu jugalbandi, showing how the sitar can create a sophisticated ambiance for corporate and official gatherings.

This is a devotional piece, a bhajan for Goddess Durga, perfect for spiritual gatherings and satsangs. My aim is to create a sacred atmosphere that complements the occasion.

Music for me is often about capturing a mood. This vilambit gat in Raag Malhar is my feeling of a rainy afternoon, a slow and peaceful melody that you can get lost in.

This is the announcement for my concert at the prestigious India International Centre in New Delhi. I feel grateful for opportunities to share my music on such respected platforms.

A look into my daily riyaz with a fellow musician. This is where the real work happens, practicing 'gamaks' and exploring the nuances of a raag like Bilaskhani Todi. Every session is a step forward in my learning.

About this collection

Whether you are planning a quiet, acoustic baithak or need a sophisticated musical backdrop for a corporate event, the approach remains the same: a focus on the meditative Dhrupad baaj of the Rampur Senia Gharana. I do not provide generic background noise, but rather a deliberate, immersive musical experience that starts with a slow, expansive alaap and builds through traditional compositions.

My music is rooted in the Rampur Senia Gharana, a tradition where every note in the alaap serves as a meditation. When I perform for an intimate audience, such as a baithak or a small satsang, I prefer the purely acoustic setup because the sitar’s natural resonance speaks best in close quarters. It is an honest, unamplified sound that allows listeners to hear the subtle nuances of my riyaz.

For larger gatherings or corporate environments, we adapt. I incorporate professional amplification to ensure the depth of the raag carries across the room without losing its soul. Whether it is a formal morning recital or an evening corporate dinner, I curate the setlist to match the energy of the room. We can explore a full-length concert piece with a senior-grade tabla accompaniment for a formal stage, or keep it light and melodic with instrumental versions of well-loved ragas like Yaman or Desh to provide a serene backdrop.

If you are booking for a specific occasion, consider the nature of your space. A carpeted hall or a quiet drawing room is perfect for an acoustic setup, while larger auditoriums require us to coordinate closely with your sound engineering team for a detailed line check. My goal is to create a space for contemplation, not just fill the air with sound. Let’s connect to discuss the specific mood you want to set for your gathering.
