About Elegant Classical & Jugalbandi

I focus on the nuances of traditional Raagas like Yaman and Hameer to set the right mood for your venue. For jugalbandi sessions, I coordinate closely with my tabla player to match the energy of your event—moving from slow, meditative passages during morning rituals to high-tempo rhythmic conversations that command attention at an evening reception.

The Foundation of My Sound

My music is born from the Varanasi tradition. With a PhD in Music from BHU, my approach to performance is grounded in the structural integrity of pure Indian classical music. Whether I am playing a solo sitar set or a duet, the focus remains on authenticity.

Why Jugalbandi Works

Jugalbandi is a conversation between melody and percussion. It is not just about playing notes, but about the interplay between the sitar and the tabla. This format works well for weddings, corporate cultural evenings, and heritage venue events because it provides a dynamic listening experience. It keeps the audience engaged without needing to be loud.

Logistics and Setup

To ensure the best performance, I have specific technical needs that I communicate early. For a traditional aesthetic, I recommend a raised platform (takhat) covered with a white sheet (chandni). This creates the authentic setting that Indian classical music demands.

For sound, I arrive 60 minutes before the event for tuning and a sound check. I require a standard PA setup with a minimum of 4 microphones and 2 monitor wedges to ensure the subtle nuances of the sitar are heard clearly by your guests, even in larger halls. My goal is to handle all the technical coordination so you can focus on your guests.
