About Sitar Lessons
My Approach
Sangeet mere liye ek sadhana hai - not just for fun, it’s how I keep my soul sorted. I couldn’t handle a “normal” job because music keeps pulling me back. I teach sitar the way I learned: Guru-Shishya Parampara. It's not a modern shortcut, but the real deal. I’m from the Rampur Senia gharana, so you’ll get that Dhrupad baaj vibe in every lesson.
What You’ll Learn
If you’re starting from scratch, I’ll walk you through the basics - swaron ka gyaan, sargam, alankar exercises. Your fingers and ears will get a proper workout. Once you’re steady, we’ll play simple tunes and compositions on the sitar.
If you already know your way around, we’ll dive into raga improvisation techniques. Expect ragas like Yaman, Bhairav, Kafi, and Miyan ki Malhar. We’ll do Alaap, Jor, Jhaala, Gats, Taans. You’ll learn Gayaki style, go deep into bandishes, and get ready for live sangat or solo stage.
Who Can Join
Anyone with a love for music is welcome. Age doesn’t matter (as long as you’re 10+). No prior training needed. Even trained singers or instrumentalists looking to shift over, come on in.
Class Formats
I do one-on-one, group, in-person (Gurgaon/NCR), and online sitar classes India. Whatever suits your style.
Instruments
Don’t worry about not having a sitar. I’ll help you get a good one, not those cheap, hard-to-play types.
Galti maaf for any mistakes – I’m still learning too.

My Story
Hey, I’m Shubhrodeep. Sitar player, compulsive singer, music addict. I used to sit at my office desk, choking to sing out loud—rain made it worse! My life is all music, thanks to my gurus. Mithu Kaku always said, ‘Ek Saadhey, Sab Saadhey’ (master one, master all). So, I lived in Raag Yaman for years. Now, I play for my gurus, for the joy, for the rain, for the mystery. Music is my never-ending adventure.
My Work
Sitar Classes (Online & In-Person) - I teach sitar to anyone above 10, in Gurgaon/NCR or online. Learn Rampur Senia Gharana style.
Concerts & Events - I perform meditative classical music at concerts, baithaks, jugalbandis, and even corporate gigs.
Teaching Philosophy - Music is fun—sometimes we play Jingle Bells! Main thing: get swaron ka gyaan. Age doesn’t matter.
Style & Approach - Focus on Dhrupad sitar lessons, Alaap, Kharaj. Not just entertainment—music for the soul, for contemplation.
Learning Process - It’s all about riyaaz, discipline, and sadhana. Extra effort makes the difference. Galti Maaf, I’m still learning too.
