Interactive Indian Classical Music Workshops for Kids

Music is meant to be felt, not just heard. We bring the vibrant energy of Shastriya Sangeet directly to your space, letting kids explore rhythm and instruments through storytelling, play, and hands-on discovery.

Children gather around to explore the Mridangam, a key percussion instrument in Carnatic music. Our Wonderful Vaadya Project is all about these moments of tactile discovery and learning.

A group of children listening with rapt attention during a Raag Sangeet session. We believe in creating an environment where even the youngest listeners can appreciate the depth and beauty of classical music.

A beautiful moment of family bonding over the tabla. Our workshops are designed for parents and children to share the joy of music, creating memories together.

Our summer camps are filled with expressive exploration and fun. Here, children are engaged in a puppetry and theatre session, learning to tell stories through art and movement.

The pure, uninhibited joy of making music together. This clip from our summer camp captures the energy and happiness that fills our sessions as kids explore different percussion instruments.

About this collection

We do not believe in strict, sit-still lectures. Instead, we bring instruments like the Tabla, Veena, and Sitar directly to your living room or school floor, letting children touch, strum, and tap to find their own rhythm. It is tactile, occasionally messy, and loud in the best way possible.

At ShrotaHouse, our goal is to make Indian classical music feel like home, not a rigid academic subject. We built this experience for families who want to go beyond basic theory, moving into the 'vibe' of the music through active participation.

The Hands-On Approach

Every session is designed for connection. Whether we are running our 'Wonderful Vaadya' instrument discovery or a musical storytelling tour, the focus remains on the kids. They get to hold real instruments, learn basic 'Laya' (rhythm) through clapping games, and connect with art while listening to live performances. This is not a passive concert; it is a shared experience.

What We Provide

We handle the logistics so you can focus on the music. We bring everything: floor mats for our traditional baithak seating, all necessary art supplies, and the instruments themselves. You just need to provide the space. Whether you are a parent organizing a playdate or a school looking for a different kind of music education, we adapt our sessions to suit the age and energy of the group.

Who This Is For

Our workshops work best for children aged 3 to 8, but we have found that parents often have just as much fun as the kids. If you are in Bangalore or Chennai and want to bring a little classical magic to your next gathering, we would love to join you.

I'm Madhumita, and I started ShrotaHouse because I wanted my own kids to feel the heartbeat of our classical music. We are not just teaching notes; we are a growing family of parents and kids discovering the joy of Raags and Taals together, one session at a time.
