Sanda Combat Training and Real Self-Defense
Real combat, real sweat. My Sanda training isn't about choreographed moves; it is about building the reflexes and strength you need for effective self-defense.
Two young fighters engaged in a controlled Sanda sparring match. They learn to apply their techniques under pressure, developing reflexes, strategy, and the courage to face an opponent.
A young student practices her striking on pads with a coach. This one-on-one attention is key to refining technique, power, and accuracy for effective self-defense.
Training is for everyone, kids and adults. This compilation shows various Sanda drills, including takedown defense, pad work with an adult student, and supervised sparring, all at our cultural center.
About Sanda: Practical Combat & Self-Defense
We do not just mimic moves; we spar. You will learn to control distance, time your strikes, and defend against takedowns in a controlled environment. I insist on full-contact sparring sessions for my students because you cannot learn how to fight without actually fighting. It is hard work, but it is the only way to build muscle memory that holds up when you are under pressure.
Why Sanda for Self-Defense?
Sanda, or Chinese Kickboxing, is the bridge between traditional Kung Fu and modern combat. Unlike point-fighting, Sanda is full-contact. We integrate strikes, kicks, and takedowns. My goal is not to teach you a dance; it is to teach you how to neutralize a threat.
My Training Methodology
- Foundation & Stance: If your footing is not solid, you are a target. We drill balance until it is second nature.
- Controlled Sparring: We use protective gear, but we do not hold back on intensity. This is where you learn to manage the adrenaline dump.
- Practical Defense: You learn how to deal with real-world scenarios, from closing the distance to executing takedowns.
Who Should Train?
Whether you are an office-goer wanting to get fit or someone looking for serious self-defense skills, this is for you. I take beginners and turn them into fighters. If you are willing to put in the hours, I am willing to teach.
What You Need
You need to be ready for sweat. Bring discipline. You will need boxing gloves and hand wraps—hygiene and safety are non-negotiable in my dojo. We train at JP Nagar 7th Phase and Whitefield. Check the schedule for timing.
