This is a beginner's sparring session. Even small progress matters. I always tell my students, *joragi barabeku* (it should come with force), to build power and confidence.
Two students sparring under my supervision. They are practicing their kicks and blocks, learning to read an opponent's movements and react effectively.
A moment during a sparring drill, focusing on footwork and maintaining a strong defensive stance. These fundamentals are crucial in MMA.
Controlled sparring helps students build real-world reflexes and timing. We ensure all sessions are safe with proper gear and supervision.
Students working on their punching technique on the heavy bags. This is a great way to build power, speed, and cardiovascular endurance.
Two sisters practicing their martial arts drills together. Learning with a partner is a great way to stay motivated and improve your skills.
Sister power in action. These two are working on their stances and conditioning drills, building the strength and discipline needed for martial arts.
About MMA & Combat Sparring
Sparring isn't just about hitting hard; it is about reading your opponent and keeping your guard up. We use high-density EVA mats and protective gear to make sure you can train at full intensity while keeping every session safe. When I tell my students joragi barabeku (bring the power), I want to see you commit to the technique, not just throw wild punches.
Our training is built on a clear foundation. We start with the basics—footwork, defensive stance, and punch combinations—before moving into controlled sparring. This approach ensures you do not just learn moves, but you understand the timing and distance required in a real fight.
Why we train this way
- Safety First: We do not spar without protective gear. Shin guards, headgear, and gloves are mandatory. This allows us to push intensity without the risk of injury.
- Technical Drills: Before you step into the ring, we spend time on the heavy bags and mitts. You need to develop your power and speed before you can effectively apply it against a partner.
- Mental Toughness: Martial arts is as much about the mind as the body. Learning to stay calm when you are tired or under pressure is the biggest lesson you will take home.
Whether you are training for fitness, self-defense, or hoping to get into stunt work, the consistency you find in our sessions will help you progress. We focus on discipline and respectful practice, ensuring everyone from the complete beginner to the advanced student learns something new each day. Hogli hogli—keep moving, keep learning.
