About Ancient Weapons, Modern Discipline
We do not start by swinging swords. You begin with the staff, or 'gun', to build a foundation of balance and coordination. Only after your basic stances are solid—Ma Bu and Gong Bu—do we move to more complex tools like the sword or nunchaku. It is about controlling the weapon, not letting it control you.
Traditional weapons training is the bridge between martial arts movement and total body control. In my sessions, you learn that every swing requires a calm mind and a steady grip.
The Curriculum We start with the staff. It is the father of all weapons, teaching you reach, footwork, and how to maintain your center of gravity. Once you have built that coordination, we advance to:
- Straight Sword: Focuses on fluid movement and wrist flexibility.
- Nunchaku: Sharpens hand-eye coordination and reaction speed.
- Pudao: Builds strength through weight and momentum.
The Philosophy I do not teach this just so you can hold a prop. This is combat preparation. Whether you are in JP Nagar or Whitefield, the standard remains the same. You will struggle, you will sweat, and you will learn the history behind the movements. My sessions include agility drills and conditioning so that your performance with the weapon is backed by real athletic power.
What You Need You do not need prior experience, but you do need patience. We use foam-padded training gear for safety, but the discipline is real. If you are serious about learning the art of Shaolin weaponry, bring your focus and your willingness to train hard. No shortcuts.
