Real race fitness isn't built on a treadmill. It’s built on functional power, grit, and the ability to handle whatever the course throws at you.

Tire flips are a full body workout that builds explosive power from the ground up. This is a core exercise in our OCR prep to develop the strength needed for lifting and flipping heavy objects on the course.

The sledgehammer workout builds incredible grip, forearm, and core strength. It's a high intensity exercise that develops the kind of rotational power and toughness essential for any OCR athlete.

A glimpse into a CrossFit circuit training session. We combine exercises like kettlebell swings and wall balls to build strength and conditioning simultaneously, keeping your heart rate high.

This circuit training session combines weightlifting with tire flips. This method improves muscular endurance, builds strength, and provides a time efficient, full body workout.

Muscular endurance is crucial. Here, I'm demonstrating posture holding exercises like the squat hold and superman hold. These build the stability and strength to maintain difficult positions during a race.

More endurance posture holding techniques. These bodyweight exercises improve your ability to manage your own weight, which is critical for obstacles like wall hangs and crawls.

We also incorporate yoga poses held for longer durations. This not only builds strength and stability but also cultivates mental focus and discipline.

Bodyweight training is a cornerstone of our program. This video shows a combination of box jumps, planks, and pull jumps to build explosive power and core stability without any external weights.

A high intensity interval training (HIIT) session combining bodyweight movements. HIIT is one of the best ways to burn calories, improve metabolic rate, and build cardiovascular endurance quickly.

Consistency is everything. This video shows a mix of swimming for recovery and dumbbell rows for back strength, demonstrating how we build a well rounded, resilient athlete.

About Built Different: OCR Strength Training

You won't find endless rows of machines here. I prioritize functional movements—tyre flips, sledgehammer strikes, and sandbag carries—that mirror the physical demands of an actual obstacle course. If you want to conquer events like the Devil’s Circuit or Wild Warriors, you need strength that works when you’re already muddy, tired, and halfway through a race.
