Yoga and Functional Strength Classes in Kochi
I teach yoga not to fix bodies, but to help you listen to yours. Whether you are looking to build strength, manage back pain, or simply find a rhythm in your movement, my practice focuses on consistency over perfection.
This image captures the heart of my teaching. It's not about achieving a perfect pose, but about the connection and guidance that helps you listen to your own body. Discipline isn't punishment; it's a form of devotion to yourself, and I'm here to support you in that practice.
In my advanced workshops, we explore what the body is capable of with focus and safe guidance. Here, I'm assisting a student with her Pincha Mayurasana alignment. These sessions are about building the strength and confidence to safely go upside down.
For years, my practice was solely on the mat. But embracing strength training has transformed my yoga, making me stronger and more stable. This is what I mean by functional fitness; movement that supports you in everything you do, both in the gym and in life.
My classes are built on consistency and personal attention. As more people have joined, I've opened new batches to keep our groups small and focused. This video is an invitation to join our community at Lift Studios in Kochi, a space where you can show up as you are.
Padmasana in sneakers. This picture perfectly captures my belief that yoga and strength training are not separate worlds. Yoga gave me awareness, and lifting gave me power. Together, they create a balanced practice for long term health and resilience.
Lower back pain is one of the most common issues I see. Gentle, restorative poses like this supported Setu Bandhasana, or Bridge Pose, can provide immense relief by activating and strengthening the muscles that support your spine. My therapeutic sessions focus on these kinds of targeted movements.
It fills me with gratitude to see my classes grow. To maintain the quality of personal attention, I keep batches small. We currently have just two spots left in the morning batch, but a new one is opening in January to welcome more of you to the mat.
My life is full, busy, and always in motion. From teaching in the studio to paddleboarding on the water, I choose movement every day not because I have time, but because it’s what holds my life together. This is the energy I bring to my practice: real, active, and integrated with life.
About Featured
My batches at Lift Studios in Kochi are deliberately capped at 12 students. This ensures that when you practice with me, you get actual hands-on corrections and modifications tailored to your specific anatomy. I don't run large classes where you get lost in the crowd because the most important part of yoga isn't looking like the person next to you; it’s understanding how your own body moves, wobbles, and grows.
Building a Practice That Lasts
Yoga is not a project to fix. Your body is home, and my goal is to help you inhabit it comfortably. With two decades of experience, I have moved away from the idea that yoga is just about flexibility. In my sessions, we blend traditional Samasthiti Yoga with functional strength training. This means we aren't just stretching; we are building muscle engagement, improving joint stability, and creating a practice that supports you in your daily life in Kochi, not just on the mat.
My Approach to Movement
- Functional Strength: Many of my students are over 35 and looking for longevity. We mix strength training with mobility work to ensure your bones are strong and your joints are happy.
- Therapeutic Focus: If you struggle with lower back pain, neck stiffness, or the aches of a desk job, my therapeutic sessions focus on rehabilitative movements and restorative poses like supported Bridge Pose to provide real relief.
- Small Batches: Whether in-studio at Lift or via live Zoom classes, I keep numbers small. This allows me to call you by name, offer real-time verbal corrections, and provide the 'spotting' needed for safe progression into advanced inversions like headstands.
Why Consistency Matters
Har din jeet nahi milegi tumhein (You won't win every day). Some days you will flow, some days you will flop—and that is perfectly fine. I don't promise weight loss, but I do promise a stronger, more resilient you. If you are ready to stop chasing perfection and start showing up for yourself, I invite you to join our community. We wobble, we laugh, and we learn, all while building a practice that respects where your body is today.
