Move beyond basic flow. Safely learn to build strength, alignment, and stability in headstands, handstands, and arm balances.

Struggling with your handstand? The secret is correcting your form from the ground up. Drills like the Hollow Body Hold and Chest to the Wall Hold teach you proper alignment and core engagement, which are more important than brute strength.

A glimpse from our Yoga Advancement Workshop at Lift Studios. Here, I'm providing support for a student's Shirshasana, ensuring her alignment is safe and stable as she builds confidence in the pose.

The dark, focused aesthetic of Lift Studios creates the perfect atmosphere for deep work. This student is practicing a preparatory pose for an inversion, using blocks to support her shoulders and build strength.

Working on headstand variations against the wall is a great way to build endurance and play with different leg positions safely. This was part of our advanced Saturday workshop.

This is a moment of trust and focus in our advanced workshop. I'm guiding a student through a split-leg variation of Pincha Mayurasana, helping her find the balance between strength and flexibility.

Using the support of a rack and a partner, this student is exploring a deep backbend. My advanced classes often use props and partner work to help students safely access more challenging postures.

This is one of my favorite moments as a teacher. I'm helping a student find her balance in a headstand variation, and the pride I feel when she nails it is immense. Her win is my win.

Guiding a student into a stable headstand requires careful attention to their alignment. Here, I'm ensuring her foundation is strong and her spine is protected as she lifts into the pose.

A moment of breakthrough. This student is finding the balance point in her headstand, and my hands are there to provide security and gentle correction. These are the moments of growth we work for.

The journey to a stable headstand is one of trust. My role is to provide the support that allows students to explore their limits safely and build the confidence to hold the pose on their own.

About Advanced Asana & Inversions

Many students think a perfect handstand is about having strong arms, but it is actually about knowing how to engage your core and stack your joints. I do not believe in just kicking up and hoping for the best. In my sessions, we focus on the prep work—wrist drills, scapular stability, and understanding your balance point against the wall—before we even think about floating away.

Inversion practice is often marketed as a race to the finish line, but real progress happens in the mundane. My approach to headstands (Shirshasana) and forearm stands (Pincha Mayurasana) is rooted in technical safety rather than just holding a pose.

We work in small groups at Lift Studios in Kochi, where I can provide hands-on adjustments. This means I am there to catch you, guide your pelvis, and ensure your neck isn't taking the load that your shoulders should be handling.

Why focus on mechanics?

Whether you are working on a hollow back hold or just trying to find your vertical alignment, understanding the physics of your own body prevents injury. We use walls, blocks, and straps not as crutches, but as tools to build the neural pathways required for balance.

Who are these for?

These sessions are for those who are ready to move past the basics and are comfortable with a consistent practice. If you are struggling with 'banana back' or feel unstable the moment your feet leave the floor, these workshops are designed to break those patterns. We focus on strength-building drills like hollow body holds and chest-to-wall drills because they translate directly to your free-standing practice.

Expect a space where we wobble, laugh, and occasionally fall. Har din jeet nahi milegi tumhein (You won't win every day). Consistency is what makes the magic happen, not intensity.

I'm Sangeeta. I didn't come to yoga to stand on my hands, but here I am, 20 years later, still finding new ways to balance. In my workshops, we strip away the ego of the perfect pose and focus on the messy, real work of building strength from the ground up.
