Yoga Meets Strength: Build Functional Power & Longevity
Your body is not a project to fix; it is your home. My practice combines traditional yoga with functional strength to build a resilient, capable you—no matter your starting point.
Padmasana in sneakers. This image captures the heart of my practice. Yoga gave me awareness, and lifting gave me power. Together, they have made me feel unstoppable, and I want to share that feeling with you.
A strong leg day isn't just about lifting heavy. It's about building stability and flexibility too. Here is a look at how I integrate strength exercises like deadlifts and leg extensions with mindful yoga stretches like Balasana and Hanumanasana for a complete, joint-friendly routine.
For years, I thought strength training wasn't for me. I was wrong. Adding weights to my yoga practice has deepened my awareness, improved my stability, and brought a new kind of joy to my movement. It’s a journey I encourage for every woman, especially as we age.
Namaste. I want to remind you of something important. Your body is not a project that needs fixing; it is your home. My sessions are about learning to listen to your body, honoring its needs, and finding grace in the effort, not just the result.
A stable handstand comes from proper alignment, not just brute force. In this video, I break down essential drills like the Hollow Body Hold and Chest-to-Wall Hold to help you build the core control and muscle memory needed to find that straight, light, and controlled line upside down.
A great teacher knows when to guide and when to let you explore. Here, I am assisting a student in Upavishta Konasana, helping her find a deeper opening in her hips safely. My classes are a space for supported growth, and sometimes, a little bit of playfulness.
I am thrilled to bring my Samasthiti Yoga classes to Lift Studio in Kochi. It is a wonderfully designed space that accommodates multiple forms of wellness. Here is a glimpse of what you can expect: a blend of strength, flexibility, and a supportive community.
About Featured
If you are joining my classes at Lift Studio in Kochi, do not expect hours of endless cardio. We focus on 'Samasthiti'—a hybrid of resistance training and yoga flows designed for long-term health. You will use kettlebells and bodyweight drills to build bone density and muscle, but we also prioritize hip mobility and spinal health, ensuring that the strength you build is actually usable in your daily life.
Many women over 35 walk into a gym and feel overwhelmed by heavy machinery, or they step onto a yoga mat and feel they are not 'active' enough. My practice bridges that gap. By weaving strength training—think deadlifts, squats, and push-ups—with traditional yoga flows, we address the two things that matter most as we age: bone density and joint mobility.
The Hybrid Approach
My sessions are not about aesthetics; they are about autonomy. When you lift weights, you build the raw power necessary for daily tasks. When you practice yoga, you build the awareness to use that power without injury. This combination prevents the stiffness often associated with heavy lifting and the lack of structural support sometimes found in pure yoga practice.
What You Can Expect
We work in small groups at Lift Fitness & Wellness Studio in Kochi, which allows me to focus on your form. Classes are high-energy but grounded. Some days you will feel strong and ready to push, and other days you will need to focus on recovery and mobility. That is entirely okay. As I often tell my students, Har din jeet nahi milegi tumhein (You won't win every day). My role is to help you show up anyway, regardless of the mood.
Who This Is For
This is for anyone ready to move past the obsession with weight loss and start training for longevity. Whether you are navigating menopause or simply want to move pain-free, my goal is to help you build habits that stick. Consistency beats perfection, always.
