Rangwang in Ladakh: The First Dance Retreat
High-altitude Kathak, local culture, and a community that feels like home. Join us in Leh for 5 days of movement, sweat, and storytelling.
This video is a complete summary of our 5-day dance journey in Ladakh. It shows our daily technique classes, our adventures exploring Leh, and the final showcase where everyone performed their own personal choreography. It truly was a healing and joyful experience.
The official poster for our inaugural dance retreat in Ladakh. The design captures the spirit of the journey, combining the powerful imagery of the mountains with the promise of finding freedom through dance and storytelling.
Here is a list of the unique experiences we offered during the Ladakh retreat. We combined daily dance and choreography classes with morning yoga, heritage walks, a traditional Ladakhi lunch at a homestay, and even a dance picnic by a stream.
This is a more personal look at the feeling of our Ladakh retreat. It’s filled with candid moments of us dancing, learning from local artists, sharing stories, and celebrating together. I edited this myself while crying happy tears.
A quiet moment on the road in Leh, with the mountains watching over the town. The incredible landscape of Ladakh was not just a backdrop for our retreat; it was a constant source of inspiration for our movement and stories.
About Rangwang in Ladakh: The First Journey
This is not just a dance class. It is a rigorous, soulful deep-dive. Each day, we balance three hours of intense Kathak technique with cultural immersion, from learning traditional Ladakhi cooking to performing against the backdrop of the Himalayas. You will be pushed, you will sweat, and by the end, you will be choreographing your own piece, building a sense of community that stays with you long after the flight home.
The 5-Day Rhythm
We structure the retreat to balance intensity with grounding. Mornings start with 180 minutes of serious Kathak technique, covering footwork and contemporary spins. We don't just stay in the studio; the landscape is our classroom. Evenings are reserved for Abhinaya, where we focus on emotional storytelling, often with the mountains as our silent audience.
Beyond the Movement
Dance is the focus, but connection is the point. We keep groups small and intimate, staying in boutique heritage properties. You will explore Old Leh Town, participate in workshops with local folk artists, and share home-cooked Ladakhi meals. This is where the 'Ghar wali Diwali' feeling comes from—the realization that you have found your dance family in the most unexpected of places.
What to Expect
- Physicality: This is active. Expect to sweat. We use the high altitude and sand or studio floors to test your conditioning.
- Showcase: By day five, you will have created your own choreography. We film this, giving you a final, personal souvenir of your journey.
- Logistics: Everything is handled by our team, including private SUV transfers and airport pickup, so you can focus entirely on the movement and the experience.
This retreat is for anyone who wants to stop just learning steps and start telling their own stories through dance. Whether you are a trained dancer or just someone looking to reconnect with your body, you will find a safe space here.
