Master the art of the grip. Join my Gi Jiu-Jitsu classes in Bengaluru to build strategy, leverage, and mental toughness on the mats.

This is a classic Gi takedown. I'm using grips on the collar and sleeve to unbalance my partner and bring them to the mat, which is a key skill in Gi Jiu-Jitsu.

A glimpse into our MMA class, where a student practices a takedown. We integrate Gi techniques into our overall MMA training for a well-rounded skill set.

Here we are drilling a "worm guard" pass. This is a more advanced technique where you learn to navigate and dismantle a complex guard using specific grips on the Gi.

This clip shows another variation of a Gi takedown. Practicing these throws helps build timing and an understanding of how to use an opponent's momentum against them.

In my Gi, ready to train. The uniform is more than just clothing; it's a tool we use in our training to learn about grips, leverage, and control.

About Gi Jiu-Jitsu Fundamentals

When you step onto the mats in a Gi, the game changes completely. The uniform is not just clothing; it becomes a tool for control. We use the lapels, sleeves, and collars to create leverage, manage distance, and set up submissions that you simply cannot execute in No-Gi. It is methodical—if you want to understand the mechanics of BJJ, this is where you start.

I view BJJ as chess on the mats. It is not about being the toughest person in the room; it is about learning how to handle tough situations and keep moving forward. In our Gi fundamentals program, we strip everything back to the core principles: grip, posture, and position.

Why Train in the Gi?

Using the uniform forces you to slow down and think. Because you have handles (the fabric), you can control an opponent’s movement more precisely. This is where you learn to build a solid guard, execute technical takedowns, and apply chokes with control rather than force. Whether we are drilling specific guard passes or practicing live rolling sessions, the goal is the same: to be better than you were yesterday.

What to Expect at the Studio

We keep the vibe real at our HSR Layout and Basapura studios. You will find a mix of people—adults, students, and working professionals—all there to push their comfort zones. We don’t just train; we build a team. You will learn to use the 'worm guard', master collar chokes, and improve your base through consistent drilling.

If you have never stepped on a mat before, do not worry. I welcome beginners to come in, ask questions, and try a session. We prioritize respect, discipline, and, most importantly, safety. If you are looking to compete later, I also run dedicated BJJ competition training to get you ready for the tournament circuit.

I teach BJJ because I believe it is the ultimate mental and physical test. My role is to help you think through every position and use the Gi to gain control, whether you are here for self-defense or just to get fit. We keep it real—no egos, just steady progress with a team that has your back.
