Sitar Performances and Musical Journeys
Music has taken me across the country, from concert halls to the hills. Here is a look at my life as a traveling artist, the people I meet, and the places that inspire my music.
Namaskara! This was from a gig tour to Uttarakhand. Traveling for concerts is one of the best parts of being a musician, and I love bringing my music to new places.
A photo of me with my sitar on a swing. The caption says it all: "Go where you feel most alive." For me, that place is with my music.
A close-up shot with a big smile. I believe the joy I feel when I play is something the audience can feel too.
A proud moment receiving an award after a performance. I am always humbled and grateful for any recognition of my dedication to music.
A candid shot taken by my friend Prashant. The quote "When you play, never mind who listens to you" is a reminder to always play from the heart.
Being felicitated on stage is an honor that I dedicate to my gurus. It motivates me to continue my journey in music with even more passion.
A portrait before a performance. The quiet moments before going on stage are a time for focus and mental preparation.
A happy, relaxed moment with my sitar. This photo captures the peaceful and content feeling that music brings to my life.
About Portraits & On The Road
If you are planning an event outside of Bengaluru, please know that I am comfortable traveling for performances. I always arrive early to tune my Naeem Sitar and coordinate with your sound team to ensure the acoustics work for your specific venue, whether you have planned an intimate indoor gathering or an open-air concert.
The sitar is my constant companion. Whether I am playing a morning raga for a small baithak or performing fusion at a corporate event, my goal is to create an atmosphere where the music takes over the room. Music isn't just about the notes; it's about the connection between the performer and the audience.
My Approach to Travel and Performances
I treat every event as a new journey. Over the years, I have performed in various settings—from traditional stages in Bengaluru to scenic outdoor locations in Uttarakhand. Managing the technical side of things is part of my responsibility. If you book me for an event, I will guide you on the necessary sound equipment (PA system, mics) required for the space to ensure the subtle nuances of the sitar carry well, regardless of the venue size.
What I Bring to Your Event
- Adaptability: I shape my repertoire to fit the vibe. If you want a purely classical Hindustani experience for a cultural gathering, we stick to traditional ragas. If you want something for a wedding or cocktail party, we can include upbeat Bollywood covers or fusion beats.
- Preparation: I travel with my professional-grade Naeem Sitar and always perform a soundcheck well before your guests arrive.
- Genuine Interaction: Music is meant to be shared. I love explaining the story behind a raga or the nuance of a melody, making the performance more engaging for your guests.
If you have a theme or a specific song list in mind, let's discuss it. I am happy to curate a set that feels right for your special occasion.
