Unlock the subtle power of your life force through ancient energy locks and gestures. These sessions are for those ready to move beyond the physical and harmonize their inner energy.

This collage showcases some of the hand gestures, or Mudras, that we explore in our advanced workshops. Each Mudra has a specific effect on the body's energy, and learning them can add a new dimension to your yoga and meditation practice.

This text explains the profound benefits of practicing Mudras and Bandhas, from purifying the nervous system and awakening chakras to increasing mental stability and concentration. It is a path to both spiritual advancement and physical well being.

An invitation to our advanced practice sessions. These workshops are for students who wish to explore the more subtle and intense aspects of yoga, learning to activate and control their energy for higher states of consciousness.

About Deepen Your Practice: Mudras & Bandhas

Think of Mudras and Bandhas as the fine-tuning for your internal energy. While yoga poses build strength, these techniques are how we direct that energy, clearing blockages and calming the nervous system. You do not need to be a yoga expert to start; you just need to be ready to sit still and turn your attention inward. We explore the basics like Mula, Uddiyana, and Jalandhara Bandha in a small group setting, so you can learn the precise engagements without feeling overwhelmed.

Moving Beyond the Physical

Most yoga classes focus on the external—how the body moves and stretches. But when we move into Mudras (gestures) and Bandhas (energy locks), the focus shifts entirely inward. This is where we learn to control and contain our prana, or life force.

What happens in a session?

Our sessions at the Kailash Colony Yogshala are kept small, usually between 8 and 15 people. This allows for clear guidance on the subtle engagements required for these techniques. We move past the surface-level movements to focus on:

  • Energy Locks: Learning the correct application of Mula, Uddiyana, and Jalandhara Bandha.
  • Nervous System Regulation: Using these ancient techniques to purify the nervous system and manage stress.
  • Mental Stability: Techniques designed to cultivate deep concentration and calm the fluctuations of the mind.

Is this for me?

If you have been practicing yoga for a while and feel like you have hit a plateau, or if you are simply looking for a more meditative, internal approach to your practice, this is for you. We provide the props and the climate-controlled, soundproofed environment you need to focus.

We approach these ancient practices with respect for their roots. My goal is to ensure that when you walk out of the Yogshala, you carry that sense of balance and focus back into your daily life. It is not about looking a certain way; it is about feeling that steady, quiet power growing within you.

I created this Yogshala to be a sanctuary where we honor the traditional roots of yoga, not just the fitness side. When we step into Mudra and Bandha practice, we are really just peeling back the layers to connect with that quiet, powerful space inside you. You are welcome to join us exactly as you are.
