Explore the subtle art of mudras. These are not just hand gestures, but powerful seals used to channel prana and restore your internal harmony. Learn how to use these traditional techniques to support your specific physical and emotional needs.

This is the Shambhavi Mudra, or eyebrow gazing. It is a powerful technique for awakening the third eye (Ajna Chakra), which enhances intuition, calms the mind, and improves concentration.

The power of Shambhavi Mahamudra lies in its ability to seal and redirect your energy inward. This practice often brings immediate and surprising shifts, helping you move towards your spiritual goals.

Here I am demonstrating the Shambhavi Mahamudra. This practice not only calms the mind but also stimulates the pituitary gland, which helps regulate thyroid function and balance hormones.

The Hakini Mudra, also known as the Brain Power Mudra. I teach this to improve memory, concentration, and cognitive function. It works by connecting the energy of the right and left brain hemispheres.

This video demonstrates three powerful mudras for balancing the Tridoshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Practicing these for just five minutes a day can help restore your body's natural constitution and prevent imbalances.

Maha Sirsa Mudra, or the Great Head Pose Mudra, is excellent for relieving headaches, migraines, and sinus pressure. It works by improving blood flow to the brain and calming the nervous system.

The Yogini Mudra, demonstrated here, is especially beneficial for women's health. It helps relieve menstrual discomfort, strengthens the reproductive system, and cultivates feminine energy and grace.

This is the Anahata Mudra, or Heart Mudra. It is a simple yet profound gesture that opens and balances the heart chakra, fostering unconditional love, compassion, and emotional healing.

Here is the Trailokya Mohini Mudra, the mudra that captivates the three worlds. I teach this to help attract abundance, enhance personal magnetism, and boost self-confidence by activating the heart's energy.

The Kalesvara Mudra is used to calm the flood of thoughts and overcome addictive behaviors. It improves memory and concentration by creating a state of inner peace and clarity.

About Yoga Mudras: Hand Gestures for Healing

A mudra is literally a 'seal,' and that is the most accurate way to understand them. These are not merely static hand poses; they are complex energetic circuits. By placing your fingers in specific configurations, you close these circuits and redirect prana, or life force, to heal specific parts of your body and mind. In my studio, I teach that a gesture without intention is just a physical shape. I focus on the breath and the mental concentration required to 'seal' that energy, ensuring the practice actually serves your healing, whether you are managing anxiety or seeking deeper focus.

Understanding the Power of Seals

Many students come to me thinking mudras are decorative. However, when we practice the Shambhavi Mudra, for instance, we are not just gazing at our third eye; we are stimulating the pituitary gland to regulate hormones and calm the nervous system. Similarly, when practicing the Yoni Mudra, we are working to withdraw senses inward, creating a state of introspection that balances the Manipura Chakra and improves digestion.

My Approach to Mudra Practice

I do not offer quick-fix solutions. In my classes in Saket, we treat mudras as a foundational element of Hatha Yoga. We integrate these gestures with:

  • Pranayama: We combine breath control with mudras to amplify their effect on the nervous system.
  • Focus: Each mudra requires a specific mental state. I guide you to quiet the mind so you can actually feel the energy shifting.
  • Consistency: Whether it is the Hakini Mudra for brain power or the Anahata Mudra for opening the heart, the benefits come from disciplined, daily practice.

Why Practice with Guidance?

It is easy to find images of hand gestures online, but practicing them incorrectly can be ineffective or, in some cases, counterproductive to your energy flow. My role is to help you understand the 'why' behind each gesture. We look at your specific needs—whether you need to balance your Vata, Pitta, or Kapha doshas, or you are looking to overcome specific emotional blockages—and we select the mudras that will actually help you move toward balance.

This is the path of truth. If you are ready to use these ancient tools to rebalance your system, I am here to help you get started.
