A glimpse into the soul of our dance studio. From the grace of stage performances to the warmth of our studio parivaar, this is the legacy I carry and share with you.

This is the joy I hope to share with every student. A moment on stage, lost in the story, where every movement from the hasta mudra to the turn of the head speaks a language of its own. This is the essence of a full Bharatanatyam performance.

There is nothing more rewarding than seeing my students dance as one, their movements and hearts in perfect sync. This is a glimpse of our senior disciples performing a Tillana, a piece filled with complex rhythms and pure, joyful energy.

To truly dance, you must understand the story. Here, I am explaining the context of a Meera Bhajan to my students. We believe that knowing why Meera sings and prays is what brings true emotion and life to the abhinaya.

A few quiet moments exploring abhinaya, the art of expression. For me, dance is feeling. It is the subtle glance, the gentle smile, and the story that unfolds in the eyes that truly connects with the audience.

A view of our Kalangan parivaar during our annual Guru Pooja. My studio is a home where students of all ages, their families, and I come together to celebrate our shared love for dance and honor our traditions.

The power and energy of a group performance. Here, my senior students perform a Durga Chalisa during Navaratri, their movements synchronized in devotion to the Mother Goddess. Seeing them own the stage is my greatest reward.

With my Amma, Guru Smt. Jamuna Krishnan. She is the root of everything I teach, the one who first brought North Indian poetry into the world of Bharatanatyam. I feel her blessings every time I step into the studio.

The energy in the studio just one day before our Annual Day performance. This is what it's all about: the shared focus, the last-minute practice, and the excitement of 71 of my disciples getting ready for the stage.

About Featured

You will notice our studio floor feels different under your feet. We practice on professional sprung wooden flooring, specifically designed to protect your knees and joints during those rigorous footwork sessions. It is a small, practical detail, but for me, caring for your body is just as important as perfecting your hasta mudras.

At Kalangan, my studio in Dwarka, dance is a way of life. When you join our classes, you are stepping into a lineage. I teach the Vazhuvoor style, rooted in the Guru-Shishya parampara that my mother, Guru Smt. Jamuna Krishnan, lived by. We do not just focus on Nritta, or pure technique. We emphasize Abhinaya, the art of emotive storytelling. Whether it is a Meera Bhajan or a complex Varnam, we spend time understanding the context and the emotion behind every movement.

Our community is our strength. We are a parivaar, not just a school. I see mothers returning to dance, college students finding their rhythm, and kids discovering the joy of tradition. We celebrate festivals, perform Guru Pooja together, and prepare for our Annual Day with genuine excitement. My goal is to pass on these rare compositions and traditions so that the history of our art keeps breathing through every new dancer who steps onto our floor.
