About Bharatanatyam Performances for Events
Why I Dance
Dance, for me, is family and memory. Every time I perform, I carry the legacy of my mother and guru, Smt. Jamuna Krishnan. Her compositions and spirit are right there with me, and I keep her alive by lighting a vilakku (lamp) in my heart with every show.
What I Offer For Your Event
For weddings, corporate events, festivals, or home gatherings, Bharatanatyam can truly transform the mood. I bring a mix of grace, technical skill, and real emotion.
- Solo recitals: My most personal performances, with 35+ years’ experience. Deep abhinaya (expression), rhythmic play, and classic pieces.
- Group choreography: My senior students from Kalangan join me. We do everything from invocatory dances to energetic Tillanas, all tailored for your event.
- Lec-Dems: If you want to learn, I break down the dance’s history, technique, and stories. Great for schools and curious groups.
The Complete Experience
I almost always perform with live music - Carnatic vocals, mridangam, flute, and nattuvangam. The music lifts the whole recital, making it special.
Visuals and Themes
We wear full traditional Bharatanatyam costumes and temple jewellery. I love building performances around themes - maybe a classic maargam, maybe stories of Krishna, or Moham (love and longing).
Where I Perform
I’m based in New Delhi but travel across India for shows. If you want authentic Bharatanatyam with real emotion and live music, I’d love to be part of your event.

My Story
Family is everything for us at Kalangan. Amma and Appa, especially my mother Smt. Jamuna Krishnan, shaped our world - her sarees and her dance creations are still with me. My husband and two boys, Aditya and Anant, keep the house full of cricket, music, and laughter. Traditions like Vishu’s kai-neetam and Navratri’s golu bommais run deep here. All this love and history – it’s what you’ll feel in our dance.
My Work
Bharatanatyam Classes & Solo Performances - We teach all levels, offer private choreography, and perform solo for events.
Kalangan - Our Dance Family - We celebrate festivals, nurture the guru-shishya bond, and welcome everyone into our clan.
Expressive Abhinaya Training - Dance is storytelling. We focus on expressive abhinaya training so students truly connect.
Legacy Bharatanatyam Compositions - Passing on my mother’s unique Bharatanatyam pieces, especially North Indian bhakti choreography.
