About Behind the Curtains
At our Jayanagar studio, rehearsals aren't just about blocking movements or memorizing lines. We focus on ekanka (one-act play) structures, where every prop and light cue is deliberate because our minimalist Black Box style leaves nowhere to hide. If you come by on a rehearsal evening, you will see us working on these raw transitions, sharpening the timing until it feels real.
Our Process: From Script to Stage
For the past 18 years, our process has stayed consistent: we prioritize the actor's craft over elaborate sets. By utilizing a Black Box theatre approach, we strip away the distractions. This forces our performers to rely entirely on voice, body language, and precise lighting cues—like the shadow play we emphasize in productions like Kone Galige.
The Hub: Jayanagar Theatre Studio
Our studio is more than a rehearsal space; it is where our community grows. Whether we are hosting 1-on-1 acting sessions, conducting script reading workshops, or simply unwinding with a game of 'Guess the Song' after a grueling technical run, this space is the heart of WeMove. It is where we nurture the next generation of performers, moving away from mimicry and toward finding an authentic acting voice.
Why WeFocus on the One-Act (Ekanka)
We celebrate the ekanka because it is the most honest form of storytelling. It demands economy—there is no time to waste. Whether we are staging political satire like Magadi Days or an interactive mystery like Who Killed Agatha?, our goal remains the same: to present a reflection of society that sticks with you long after the final bow. We are constantly experimenting, blending folk traditions with contemporary narratives, and we invite you to be part of that evolution.
WeMove Theatre
I am Abhishek Iyengar, and at WeMove, we believe theatre is a collective journey. We don't just stage plays; we groom performers for life, right here in the heart of Bengaluru. Come join the family.
