Here I demonstrate Jal Neti, a traditional yogic cleansing technique I teach for sinus and migraine relief. This is part of the Shatkarma Kriyas, an ancient practice for detoxifying the body that goes beyond simple asanas.
This video shows the practice of Sutra Neti, a nasal cleansing kriya. I guide you on how to slowly pass a thread through the nasal passage to clear mucus, improve respiration, and help with allergies.

About Shatkarma: Traditional Yogic Cleansing
Most people get nervous when they see the Sutra (thread) for nasal cleansing, but it is actually quite gentle once you learn the right angle and breath control. It is not about causing discomfort, it is about clearing out the sinus passage. Whether you are dealing with Delhi pollution, allergies, or just constant congestion, we start slow. I teach you the exact angle to hold so the process is smooth and you actually feel the difference in your breathing immediately.
Shatkarma Kriyas are the foundation of internal hygiene in yoga. They are not just rituals, they are practical methods for maintaining respiratory and ocular health. If you are constantly battling sinus issues, migraine, or eye strain from screen time, these techniques can be a game changer.
What I Teach
- Jal Neti: Using a specialized pot to flush out the nasal passage with saline water. This is highly effective for sinus relief and clearing out dust and pollutants.
- Sutra Neti: A more advanced technique using a soft thread to gently clear nasal blockages. This helps improve airflow and boosts respiratory capacity.
- Netra Neti: A simple but effective eye cleansing practice to remove impurities, soothe tired eyes, and improve vision clarity.
Why Practice This?
Living in a metro city means we are constantly exposed to dust, pollution, and high-stress environments. These practices are my way of 'cleaning the filter' so to speak. I am a certified yoga teacher trained in Rishikesh, and my approach is always rooted in safety. I will never ask you to do a Kriya until we have established the right technique and comfort level. You do not need to be an expert in yoga to start these; you just need to be ready to learn something new that actually works for your physical health.
