Featured Creative Art & Craft Workshops in Mumbai
Step into our sunlit studio in Pali Hill to explore slow, tactile crafts. From the meditative rhythm of bookbinding to the precision of miniature painting, we host hands-on workshops designed to help you disconnect and create.
(Hero Media) There's a special kind of magic in turning simple paper and thread into a personal treasure. This video shows the journey of our four-session book-making course, where everyone creates their own unique, structured books from scratch. Just look at the little village of books they made together.
Here’s a closer look at the beautiful results from our Indian Miniature Painting workshop. You can see the fine details and rich colors achieved using traditional stone pigments on special vasli paper. Each piece, from the delicate flowers to the palm tree, tells its own quiet story.
This is Cyanotype printing, an amazing process where you literally paint with sunlight. We guide you from mixing the chemicals to composing your design, resulting in these stunning, deep blue art prints. Each one is a unique piece created by capturing light and shadow.
The best moment at the studio is unloading the kiln. It's like opening a treasure chest. This is a batch of beautiful work from our students in the Nerikomi, Wall Art, and Teacup workshops, all fired and ready to go home.
I believe art is for everyone, and in this chat with miniature artist Divya, we talk about why. We discuss how a beginner can find joy in the slow, focused process of miniature painting, and how even a professional artist can unlearn and discover something new.
This is our happy place. Sunlit, surrounded by green, and filled with creative energy. We wanted our studio to be a space where you can slow down, connect with your hands, and feel inspired the moment you walk in.
It's all in the details. This is a glimpse into the hands-on process of bookbinding, where you learn to stitch and craft with your own hands. There's something so satisfying about the rhythm of pulling the thread and seeing the pages come together.
About Featured
Whether you are stitching a hand-bound journal or painting with traditional stone pigments, every workshop here shares the same philosophy. We do not focus on producing gallery-perfect results on day one. We focus on the meditative process of working with your hands, giving you a few hours to completely unplug from your daily routine.
Why we host these workshops
At The Pottery Lab, we believe that creativity is not a talent you are born with, but a practice you build. We started as a pottery studio, but our community wanted more ways to work with their hands. That is why we collaborate with experts like Divya for Indian miniature painting and Nitika for bookbinding.
We keep our batches small, usually between 6 to 10 participants. This ensures that you get real, one-on-one attention from the artist leading the session. You do not need to be an artist to join. In fact, most of the people who walk through our glass doors in Pali Hill are looking for a break from their screens and the chaos of Mumbai city life.
What to expect at our sessions
- Miniature Painting: We teach traditional techniques using authentic stone pigments and fine brushes. It is a slow, quiet discipline that requires patience, which is exactly why it is so grounding.
- Bookbinding: You will learn structural techniques like Coptic or Long-Stitch binding. You walk away with a journal you actually made, not just the knowledge of how to make one.
- Cyanotype Printing: This is a photography-based process where you use sunlight to create prints. It is chemical-heavy, experimental, and always full of surprises.
Everything you need is waiting at the studio. Just bring yourself, maybe a friend, and an open mind. We are here to guide you, laugh with you, and help you find joy in the making.
