Graceful Aerial Yoga Poses & Flows
Floating above the floor, turning stress into strength. Let's move, breathe, and find your flow in the air.
A beautiful, flowing sequence that feels like a dance. We work on connecting movements smoothly to create an expressive aerial flow.
This aerial flow shows a transition from a climbing motion into a seated pose. It's all about moving with intention and grace.
A simple and elegant aerial flow. I love moving to music, and it helps in finding a natural rhythm with the fabric.
This is a classic aerial flow sequence, moving from a seated position into a gentle spin. It's a relaxing and beautiful way to practice.
A playful swing inside the hammock cocoon. This pose is not only fun but also a great way to relax and gently stretch the back.
This video shows a basic inversion tuck. It's a foundational move for strengthening the core and preparing for more complex upside-down poses.
The aerial butterfly pose, or Baddha Konasana in the air. The hammock provides support to help open the hips gently.
A graceful flow that combines a forward bend with a standing balance pose, all supported by the hammock.
Practicing a simple entry and tuck in the hammock. The large mirrors in our Goregaon studio help students check their form.
A variation of a seated aerial pose, working on hip flexibility and balance. The smile says it all, it's about enjoying the process.
About Graceful Poses & Transitions
Grace isn't just about holding a pose; it is about how you move from one to the next. In my Goregaon studio, we use the mirrors not to judge, but to notice the small adjustments that turn a shaky effort into a smooth flow. Don't worry about the perfect look, focus on feeling the fabric support you as you move.
Finding Your Rhythm in the Air
Aerial yoga is often misunderstood as just 'tricks'. In reality, it is a practice of constant, controlled movement. When we talk about graceful transitions, we are talking about body awareness. You learn how to use the fabric to glide rather than jump.
The Role of the Hammock
The nylon tricot hammock acts as a partner. It holds your weight so you can focus on the extension of your limbs. In my classes, we spend time on entries and exits. Getting into a pose is only half the battle; getting out of it with control is where the real strength is built. We practice these flows slowly, breaking down each step so it feels natural, not forced.
Why Practice in a Studio?
I always tell my students: don't rush. We have safety mats beneath us in the Goregaon studio for a reason. You might 'fail' or wobble in the beginning, and that is absolutely fine. Sabko hota hai (everyone goes through it). The goal is to build that comfort in the air where you stop thinking about the fabric and start thinking about your breath.
Benefits of Flow Practice
- Joint Mobility: Consistent, fluid movement helps lubricate joints and reduces stiffness.
- Core Engagement: You cannot flow without a stable core; the hammock forces your abs to work to keep you centered.
- Mental Decompression: There is something meditative about spinning and swinging. It forces you to be present. You cannot worry about your grocery list while you are hanging upside down.
