Private Residences and Sculptural Home Architecture
Our residential projects focus on how light and volume define a living space. We design homes that treat structure as a sculpture, where every void and surface serves a purpose.
A tour of the Ramprasad Residence. This project balances warm materials like wood with clean white surfaces and dark marble accents to create a modern family home.
The guest level at the Neeti Residence. This expansive, open-plan area features polished white floors and book-matched marble panels, with an indoor garden blurring the line between interior and exterior.
The indoor swimming pool at the Neeti Residence, integrated directly into the main living level. The water body acts as a calming element, reflecting light and connecting different zones of the house.
A wide view of the guest level living area and pool. The design emphasizes horizontal planes and double-height spaces to create a sense of openness and volume.
The master bedroom in the Neeti Residence. We use recessed and indirect lighting to create a soft ambiance, highlighting the clean lines of the floating bed and cantilevered shelves.
A guest room where the angularity of the architecture defines the space. Built-in furniture and storage are integrated into the walls to maintain a minimalist aesthetic.
A breakfast counter carved from translucent onyx. The material is backlit to provide a warm glow, making it a functional feature that also serves as a light sculpture.
About this collection
When we start a home, we look beyond the floor plan. We begin with hand-sketched massing models to test how natural light will enter your specific site. This ensures that features like skylights or double-height ceilings are functional, not just decorative, and actually influence the ventilation and movement within your home.
Our Architectural Philosophy
We view a residence as a series of interconnected volumes. Whether it is a luxury villa or a compact urban home, our focus remains on the structural form. By carefully manipulating massing and voids, we create spaces that feel expansive even in dense city layouts.
Light as a Material
We prioritize natural light. Our designs utilize architectural skylights and slim-profile glazing to pull sunlight deep into the heart of a building. This creates a rhythm of light and shadow that shifts throughout the day, transforming static rooms into dynamic environments.
Integration of Indoor and Outdoor
A home should not stop at the wall. We integrate indoor swimming pools, turf courtyards, and vertical gardens to blur the boundary between inside and outside. This approach not only improves air circulation but also provides a calm, sensory experience.
Our Process
- Conceptualization: We start with physical sketches and massing studies, not just digital renders.
- Materiality: We select materials based on their inherent texture and aging properties. This includes polished marble, rough concrete, and warm hardwood.
- Execution: Our team manages the build, ensuring the final structure matches the original conceptual sketch.
We take on projects across Bengaluru, working with clients who value minimalist precision and architectural honesty over ornamentation.
Ochre Architects
We are a studio of architects and thinkers who believe a house is a journey from a line on paper to a built space. We do not believe in clutter; we build homes with bones that speak for themselves.
