I believe movement feels different when you step away from four walls. Whether it is a quiet park or an open field, nature brings a different kind of energy to the mat.

"If the ocean can calm itself, so can you." A quiet, meditative flow on the beach at sunset. Moving with the sound of the waves is a deeply grounding experience.

When you can't choose between the beach or yoga, you do both. A synchronized warrior sequence with friends on the sand. The unstable surface of the sand adds an extra challenge to your balance.

Yoga by the beach with these two goddesses. This is a fun, flowing sequence moving from goddess pose into warrior II and reverse warrior, all with the ocean as our backdrop.

This is what happens when yoga teachers go on a trip. A synchronized reverse warrior pose on the rocks in Wayanad. Practicing in nature with friends is one of my greatest joys.

Holding Baddha Parsvakonasana (bound side angle pose) on a basketball court surrounded by greenery. This deep stretch for the hips and shoulders feels even better with fresh air and open space.

About Yoga in Nature

Practicing outdoors is not just about the view, it is about learning to balance on uneven ground. Sand or grass forces your stabilizer muscles to work harder than they do in a studio, giving you a completely different level of engagement.
