Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to get your hands muddy, come spend a few hours at my studio. I run small, relaxed pottery sessions where the focus is on de-stressing and finding your inner artist through clay.

A charming Ganesha idol made by a participant in one of my workshops. I guide you through hand-building techniques to create your very own festive sculpture.

In my Ganesha making workshop, you'll learn to sculpt your own idol from eco-friendly clay. It's a wonderful way to connect with the festive spirit through creativity.

Learn to make your own personalized Christmas ornaments in my one-day workshop. I provide the clay, tools, and guidance to create festive decorations for your home.

These beautiful red and green ornaments were created by students in my Christmas workshop. You can learn to carve your own unique patterns using the sgraffito technique.

In my holiday workshops, you can have fun painting your creations. These 'Joy' and heart-patterned ornaments are great examples of what you can make.

A handful of festive baubles, all handmade and painted in one of my popular Christmas workshops. It's a fun and creative activity for the holiday season.

My studio table is often filled with pieces made by students during my pottery classes. I offer courses that cover everything from hand-building to wheel-throwing.

A glimpse of student work drying in the studio. It's so rewarding to see the variety of forms and ideas that emerge from each class.

I also offer one-day workshops where you can learn to make and paint your own plate. It's a great introduction to the world of ceramics.

About Join a Pottery Workshop

You don't need any prior experience to join these sessions. I keep my groups small so I can guide you personally, whether we are hand-building a Ganesha idol or using the wheel to throw your first bowl. It is less about perfection and more about the therapeutic joy of working with clay.

My studio in HSR Layout is designed for exactly that—slowing down. Pottery is a tactile, grounding experience, and I believe everyone has a bit of creativity waiting to be unlocked if they just give themselves the permission to make a mess.

What we cover in our workshops

  • Hand-building: This is great for beginners. We use techniques like pinching, coiling, and slab work to create functional decor like mugs, bowls, or festive sculptures. It is the best way to understand how the clay moves and reacts to your touch.
  • Wheel-throwing: If you want to learn the classic pottery experience, we spend time on the wheel. It requires a bit more focus, but there is a specific rhythm to centering clay that many find incredibly calming.
  • Festive Specials: Throughout the year, I host themed sessions, like making your own Ganesha for the festival season or hand-painting ornaments for Christmas. These are perfect if you want to create something meaningful for your home.

How the sessions work

I offer everything from one-day 'clayful' dates to comprehensive 10-day courses for those who want a deeper dive into the craft. I provide the clay and all the tools you need—just come ready to get your hands dirty. We keep the atmosphere chill because my philosophy is that art should be an escape from the daily rush, not another task on your to-do list.

I am Arunima, the artist behind Maati Sona. I started this studio in 2018, just before becoming a new mom, and I have loved every messy, creative minute of it. My space is for you to slow down, get muddy, and make something beautiful with your own hands.
