About Urban Design & Masterplanning
How We See Urban Design
I treat masterplanning as an act of care, not just a blueprint. For me, it’s about creating a living canvas where people and nature shape the space together. I’m always searching for that 'in-between'—the places where things breathe, where silence and activity meet, and where real connections happen.
Spaces for People, Not Just Buildings
My approach leans into greenspace integration in urban design, taking inspiration from architects like Geoffrey Bawa. Buildings don’t need to stand out—sometimes it’s better if they let nature take the lead. I try to make things blend in, not shout for attention.
Masterplanning Across Scales
- I design community-oriented masterplans, from large campuses to busy city squares.
- Projects like MCA International Clubhouse in Pune mix sports, culture, and hospitality, all wrapped in living greenery.
- The Dr. Vishnuvardhan Memorial in Mysore isn’t just a memorial—it’s a spot where locals come together, like kids doing dance practice in the auditorium.
- Even vertical spaces, like MSR Tower in Bangalore, are made to feel like a campus, with green breaks and places to pause.
Reimagining Urban Life
- In public realm transformation, I turn neglected or hectic spots into assets for the community—like Kharkiv’s Freedom Square in Ukraine, where the city’s buzz and nature slow down together.
- With installations like "Echoes of the Deep" in Amsterdam, I use light and form to invite people into moments of reflection in the middle of urban chaos.
It’s All About Storytelling
Every project is a chance for people and nature to write their stories, with a framework that lets things evolve over time. Not everything works perfectly, but that’s what keeps it real.

My Story
Hey, we’re M9 Design Studio, and for us, architecture isn’t just putting up walls. It’s letting nature sneak in, like Geoffrey Bawa did—quiet, blended, always changing. You’ll see bits of Kutch’s Lipan Kaam in our work, mud and mirrors telling stories. Awards are cool, sure, but what really sticks is seeing kids dancing in a space we dreamed up. That’s when a building feels alive.
My Work
What We Do - Architecture, masterplanning, interiors for homes and offices, product design inspired by traditional crafts.
Design Philosophy - Every project is a story. We want spaces to spark community and be living canvases.
Nature-Integrated Spaces - We do slow architecture—spaces that blend into landscapes, not fight them.
The 'In-Between' Spots - Courtyards, lobbies, pathways—these shared pockets are where real connections happen.
Materials We Love - Steel, brick, lime plaster, Kota stone—always picking what feels right for the space.
