Bespoke Wall Art & Relief Murals
Design & Concept
- Context-Based Layout: Custom patterns (grids, waves, or modular circles) derived from client-specific themes rather than standard templates.
- Prototyping: Includes digital visualization and physical material sampling to verify textures before production.
Materials & Core
- Base Structure: 12mm to 19mm BWP Marine Grade Ply or HDHMR backing treated for termite resistance.
- Relief Medium: Polymer-modified clay mixture (crack-resistant) or CNC-routed wood layers for geometric forms.
- Inlays: Integration of 3mm-5mm Saint Gobain mirrors, polished brass accents, or ceramic inserts.
Finishing & Mounting
- Surface Treatment: Automotive-grade PU coating, low-VOC texture paint, or sealed earthen finishes.
- Installation: Heavy-duty French cleat or Z-clip mounting system ensures the artwork sits flush against the wall.
Freestanding Metal & Stone Sculptures
Structural Engineering
- Stability Analysis: Engineering calculations to ensure stability against wind loads and human interaction.
- Material Options: Mild Steel (MS) wireframes, Stainless Steel (304 grade), Corten Steel, or Gabion (rock-filled wire mesh).
Fabrication Details
- Construction: Laser-cut components with seamless TIG/MIG welding; all joints ground smooth to eliminate sharp edges.
- Coating: Sandblasting followed by epoxy zinc phosphate primer and automotive-grade PU paint for weather resistance.
On-Site Installation
- Foundation: Casting of reinforced concrete (M20 grade) pedestal or footing to anchor the sculpture securely.
- Logistics: Includes specialized transport and crane service for lifting and positioning the artwork.
Architectural Light Art Installations
Design & Hardware
- Structure: Minimalist Aluminum or Steel skeleton designed to house wiring and support the lighting form.
- Light Sources: IP67-rated LED Neon Flex or rigid bars with high CRI (>90) for accurate color rendering.
- Simulation: Digital modeling to calculate lux levels and reflection interplay with the surrounding environment.
Control & Tech
- Smart Systems: DALI/0-10V dimmable drivers or DMX controllers for pre-programmed scenes and breathing effects.
- Wiring: Industrial waterproof connectors with overload protection and grounded wiring loops.
Installation
- Rigging: Custom suspension kits (aircraft cables) or floor-mounting hardware tailored to site conditions.
- Calibration: On-site adjustment of light intensity and color temperature (3000K - 4000K).
About Art & Installation Design
How We See Art
We don’t treat art installations like objects you just pass by. For us, it’s more like a living canvas - something that quietly changes the vibe of a place and brings out stories through community, reflection, and connection. We’re not about flashy statements, but about creating spots that let people pause, think, and feel.
What Drives Our Design
- Narrative is everything. We dig deep into stories and local context, whether it’s reimagining a step-well or using light as architecture in a canal.
- Our installations aren’t just for looking at - they’re immersive, sometimes interactive. You’ll find spaces you can walk through, touch, or just sit with.
- Stillness matters. Most of our work tries to carve out quiet pockets for memory and contemplation, even in busy urban spaces.
- We pull inspiration from heritage crafts and natural forms, blending them into city life in a way that feels both old and new.
Where Our Work Lives
You’ll see our site-specific art installations out in public squares, cultural spaces, and landscapes - like the minimalist ring sculpture floating in Mysore’s water or the slow design piece for Kharkiv.
We love working with light-based public art, shaping space through light and its reflection, like our Amsterdam installation.
Inside, our functional art for interiors mixes utility with beauty, taking cues from traditional crafts and giving them a modern twist.

My Story
Hey, we’re M9 Design Studio, and for us, architecture isn’t just putting up walls. It’s letting nature sneak in, like Geoffrey Bawa did—quiet, blended, always changing. You’ll see bits of Kutch’s Lipan Kaam in our work, mud and mirrors telling stories. Awards are cool, sure, but what really sticks is seeing kids dancing in a space we dreamed up. That’s when a building feels alive.
My Work
What We Do - Architecture, masterplanning, interiors for homes and offices, product design inspired by traditional crafts.
Design Philosophy - Every project is a story. We want spaces to spark community and be living canvases.
Nature-Integrated Spaces - We do slow architecture—spaces that blend into landscapes, not fight them.
The 'In-Between' Spots - Courtyards, lobbies, pathways—these shared pockets are where real connections happen.
Materials We Love - Steel, brick, lime plaster, Kota stone—always picking what feels right for the space.
