How We See Art
We don’t treat art installations like objects you just pass by. For us, it’s more like a living canvas - something that quietly changes the vibe of a place and brings out stories through community, reflection, and connection. We’re not about flashy statements, but about creating spots that let people pause, think, and feel.
What Drives Our Design
- Narrative is everything. We dig deep into stories and local context, whether it’s reimagining a step-well or using light as architecture in a canal.
- Our installations aren’t just for looking at - they’re immersive, sometimes interactive. You’ll find spaces you can walk through, touch, or just sit with.
- Stillness matters. Most of our work tries to carve out quiet pockets for memory and contemplation, even in busy urban spaces.
- We pull inspiration from heritage crafts and natural forms, blending them into city life in a way that feels both old and new.
Where Our Work Lives
You’ll see our site-specific art installations out in public squares, cultural spaces, and landscapes - like the minimalist ring sculpture floating in Mysore’s water or the slow design piece for Kharkiv.
We love working with light-based public art, shaping space through light and its reflection, like our Amsterdam installation.
Inside, our functional art for interiors mixes utility with beauty, taking cues from traditional crafts and giving them a modern twist.

My Story
Hey, we’re M9 Design Studio, and for us, architecture isn’t just putting up walls. It’s letting nature sneak in, like Geoffrey Bawa did—quiet, blended, always changing. You’ll see bits of Kutch’s Lipan Kaam in our work, mud and mirrors telling stories. Awards are cool, sure, but what really sticks is seeing kids dancing in a space we dreamed up. That’s when a building feels alive.
My Work
