Creative Workshop Spaces for Actors and Performers
We built Lilanoor as an 'adda' for artists—a flexible, warm space in South Delhi designed to host everything from intense movement workshops to intimate theatre rehearsals.
A 'Movement for Actors' workshop facilitated by Uma Katju. The image shows a group exercise where actors explore movement in relation to space, a key part of physical theatre training.
This poster for 'Partnering through Theatre Games' shows another workshop in action. Our space is perfect for exercises that require group interaction and building relationships between performers.
A poster for a workshop on 'Theatrical Tools & Techniques'. The image of the stage curtain represents the professional, focused environment we provide for serious actor training and development.
This poster for the 'Facing the Wall' workshop highlights our collaboration with groups like Toto Circle. We are a hub for Theatre of the Oppressed and other community-based practices.
A poster for 'Clownspiracy', a workshop on clowning. This shows the diverse range of creative workshops we can host, from serious acting techniques to the mechanics of comedy and slapstick.
The 'Bamboo Music Workshop' poster. This unique event demonstrates how our space can be used for immersive sound experiences, encouraging participants to explore music in unconventional ways.
Another look at the 'Partnering through Theatre Games' workshop. We welcome facilitators who need a safe and playful space for participants to explore improvisation and build connections.
A duplicate poster for the 'Bamboo Music Workshop'. We are always excited to host workshops that help people befriend sound and music in an innovative, accessible way.
About Actor Training & Creative Workshops
Our space acts as a blank canvas, allowing you to transition from chair seating for discussions to a completely cleared floor for physical theatre or movement work within minutes. We have sound-treated the walls and kept the design uncluttered, so whether you are facilitating a clowning workshop or a delicate bamboo music session, the focus remains entirely on the performers and the process, not on the room itself.
Finding a workshop venue in Delhi that feels more like a home than a sterile hall is rare, which is why we focus on maintaining a 'black box' flexibility. You get roughly 1,000 sq ft of usable, air-conditioned space that we can set up according to your specific needs.
We provide the essential infrastructure that creative facilitators look for:
- Audio & Acoustics: Sound-absorbing panels ensure clarity for vocal training, and our PA system (mixing console and main speakers) handles playback for movement or music-based work.
- Lighting: An overhead grid with fixed LED PAR cans allows you to shift the mood, whether you need bright, even light for choreography or focused spots for storytelling.
- Versatility: We move easily between a traditional 'Baithak' setup with floor rugs and cushions for informal readings to a formal classroom or theatre layout.
We regularly host facilitators like Toto Circle and Uma Katju because they value the freedom to experiment. If your workshop requires specific furniture, props, or a private green room for a multi-day event, we can accommodate that. The space is situated in South Extension II, making it accessible, but once you are inside, the world outside fades away—it is designed for deep, uninterrupted creative work.
Lilanoor
We are Lilanoor, a French-Indian artists collective and a home for performers. We started this place because we wanted a safe, non-hierarchical space in South Delhi where artists can teach, learn, and simply be.
