The Story and Philosophy Behind Lilanoor
We are a home for artists in South Delhi where creativity meets connection. Our space is built on the belief that art should be rigorous yet accessible to everyone, without the pressure of formal hierarchies.
This explains our name, Lilanoor, the "Light of the Arts". It's a fusion of 'Lila' (play) and 'Noor' (light), representing our mission to be a place where artists can playfully explore and shine.
A quote from Anubhuti Sharma, our core faculty for the Indian Voice Program. Her words capture the essence of why we started Lilanoor: to create a diverse, inclusive, and joyful world of music.
An audience member sharing her heartfelt appreciation for an Urdu performance. Fostering this deep connection between art and the community is at the very core of what we do.
About Our Community & Ethos
We built our South Delhi space to feel like an adda, not a sterile auditorium. The walls are sound-treated for acoustic clarity, but the vibe remains loose and warm with floor seating options and lamps everywhere. If you want a venue that prioritizes raw expression over polished perfection, this is where you belong.
Lilanoor translates to light of art. We started this collective to blur the lines between performer and audience, and between French and Indian musical traditions. Whether you are walking in for a Hindustani vocal workshop or a French-Indian ensemble performance, the goal remains the same: a safe space for individual expression.
Our studio in South Delhi is fully equipped for intimate storytelling, poetry nights, and acoustic music gigs. We keep the layout flexible, using traditional baithak style seating or standard chairs depending on the event. For artists and facilitators, this means a blank canvas that feels lived-in and welcoming rather than cold and imposing.
We host everything from rigorous training sessions to open jams. The community here spans ages and backgrounds, united by the simple joy of creating. If you are an indie performer looking for an acoustically treated room or a student wanting to explore new voices without the pressure of typical music school hierarchies, get in touch to see our space.
Lilanoor
We are a French-Indian collective that believes art is a conversation. Our South Delhi space is our version of an adda, where we strip away the pretension of formal performance venues to focus on the joy of creating together.
