Stop relying on rote memorization. Learn how to use actions, songs, and sensory play to make reading click for young children. My workshops provide you with a logical, hands-on framework that you can take straight into your classroom.

I believe in a structured approach to phonics. Here, I am presenting the logic behind teaching sounds before letter names, explaining to educators how this method helps children decode words more effectively.

This video shows teachers learning the actions for different letter sounds, like "puffing out the candles" for the 'p' sound. This kinesthetic learning helps both teachers and their future students remember the sounds.

A group of educators practices the action for the 'sh' sound during our phonics training. By embodying the sounds, teachers gain a deeper understanding and are better equipped to teach them with confidence.

Waving hello is the action we use for the 'h' sound. This interactive, movement-based approach is a core part of my phonics workshops, making learning active and engaging.

These are some of the materials we use in our phonics training. From flashcards and storybooks to sound dice, I provide teachers with a variety of tools to make literacy lessons dynamic and effective.

About this collection

The biggest shift you will make in my sessions is moving away from teaching letter names first. We focus on letter sounds and kinesthetic actions, like pretending to puff out candles to learn the 'p' sound, because that is how children actually decode words. It is messy, it is active, and it works much faster than traditional flashcards.

Why Synthetic Phonics?

Most traditional methods rely on rote memorization, which often leaves children confused when they encounter new words. In my workshops, I teach a synthetic phonics approach. We break language down into its smallest, logical units—the sounds—and connect them to physical actions. This multi-sensory method gives children a clear map for decoding text, making literacy intuitive rather than a chore.

What You Will Take Back

You are not just listening to a lecture. We sit on mats, use sound buttons, and practice with flashcards until the techniques feel natural. By the end of the session, you will leave with:

  • A clear understanding of tricky words and how to teach them.
  • Access to our printed guides on phonics sounds and blending.
  • Practical lesson plan templates you can use the very next day.
  • Confidence in using movement and songs to handle reading difficulties.

Designed for Collaborative Learning

Whether you are an individual teacher joining a session or a school looking to train your team of up to 10, the environment is built for sharing. We keep groups small and the space open, encouraging you to ask questions, share your classroom struggles, and learn from other educators. If you are ready to stop teaching phonics from a textbook and start teaching it through experience, let's connect.

As a parent and educator, I built Knowledge Origin to be a place where we stop lecturing and start exploring. I am an IIMB alumna, but more importantly, I am a teacher who sits on the floor with you to figure out how to make literacy sessions joyful rather than stressful.
