We welcome students of all ages into a traditional, disciplined environment where the focus is on building a strong foundation in Indian classical music.

Our youngest students, Audvik Malhotra and Aizel Chabbra, practicing a patriotic song in Raag Bilawal. We make learning music fun and accessible for children.

About Our Budding Musicians

Our group sessions follow a traditional Baithak (floor-seating) format, which creates a disciplined yet intimate environment. Sitting together on the floor helps students maintain correct posture and focus, and it builds a strong sense of camaraderie as they practice their Sargam and Taal exercises in unison under the guidance of our instructors.

The Traditional Baithak Environment

We believe music is best learned in an environment that respects tradition. By conducting classes in the Baithak style, we strip away the distractions of a modern classroom. This setting encourages students to listen actively to their peers and to the accompanying Tabla, which is a critical part of developing a sense of Laya (tempo).

Building the Foundation

Every musical journey begins with basics. Our budding musicians start by mastering the Sargam, the fundamental notes of Indian classical music. As seen in our practice sessions with students like Audvik and Aizel, we work on compositions in specific Raags—such as Raag Bilawal—to help students understand how melody and rhythm intersect.

What Students Learn

  • Voice Culture: Training the vocal cords for pitch accuracy and range.
  • Rhythm Mastery: Understanding different Taals, with live Tabla accompaniment in class.
  • Harmonium Skills: Learning to accompany oneself, which is a vital skill for any vocalist.
  • Confidence: Regular practice sessions prepare students for stage performances, moving them from the classroom to the concert hall.

Why Start Young?

Music helps children develop discipline, patience, and a deep appreciation for culture. Whether the goal is Gurbani Kirtan or mastering Hindustani Shastriya Sangeet, starting early allows students to absorb the nuances of the Raags naturally. We keep class sizes small, between 5 to 10 students, ensuring that every individual gets enough attention to correct their technique.
