Meet Your Favorite Children's Authors at Kahaani Box
Ever wondered what goes on inside an author's mind? We bring the magic off the page, hosting intimate sessions where kids can meet, chat, and create with the creators behind their favorite stories.
Our author event with Aparna Kapur for 'An Absence of Squirrels' was so much fun. The kids, having already read the book in our club, came with amazing questions about the world of Thutta and its characters, followed by a fun Bingo game.
Author Akila Kannadasan shared beautiful stories from her book 'The Lost Elephant and the Soul Tree'. The children were fascinated to hear about her personal visit to an elephant rescue camp, connecting the story to real-life experiences.
Even a downpour couldn't stop this heartfelt session with author Ranjeeta Ram. The small, intimate gathering for 'If Elephants Could Talk' allowed for deep conversations about empathy, friendship, and animal rights.
Author Divya Anand sparked important conversations about friendship and self-kindness during the session for her book 'Agalya in the Spotlight'. The kids even did a lovely art activity to express what they like about themselves.
History came alive with Devika Cariapa. She showed the kids how everyday objects like coins and toys can tell incredible stories about our past, making history feel tangible and exciting.
We had a session filled with books and beats with author Shruthi Rao. A live tabla performance set the mood for her book 'Malhar in the Middle', and kids got creative making wordless comics inspired by 'Susie Will Not Speak'.
Author Aprajita Singh brought the warmth of 'Summers with Dadu' to our Electronic City library. The highlight was a scavenger hunt for treats you'd find in a dadu's pocket, like mishri, coins, and lollipops.
About this collection
These aren't just quiet book readings where kids sit still. Whether it's a scavenger hunt for Dadu’s pocket treats or a lively 'Law or Lie' quiz, we turn every book into an experience. When you join, expect 60 to 90 minutes of hands-on fun—think bingo, comic strip making, or art activities—followed by a chance for your child to get their copy personally signed by the author.
Getting kids to look away from screens isn't easy, but seeing their eyes light up when they meet the person who wrote their favorite mystery or adventure is pure gold. Our 'Meet the Storytellers' sessions go way beyond the standard 'read-aloud'. We’ve seen kids turn into detectives, play theatrical games, and even act out skits based on the books they love.
When we host authors like Aparna Kapur or Divya Anand, the library floor transforms. We swap formal settings for cozy rugs and floor seating—a 'shoes-off' zone where everyone feels comfortable enough to ask anything, from 'How do you invent names?' to 'Why are there no squirrels on this island?'.
We hold these events across our branches in JP Nagar, Electronic City, and Akshayanagar, keeping groups small (15 to 25 kids) so every child feels seen and heard. It’s not just about the book; it’s about the community. Whether it’s a session on the Indian Constitution or a gentle talk on big feelings, we pair every story with a creative task—drawing, writing, or theatrical play—to help children process the themes. And yes, every event wraps up with book signings and photos. It’s the closest thing to magic we’ve found in our library yet.
Kahaani Box Kids Library
I'm Neha, and running Kahaani Box is pura juggle hai (a real balancing act), but bringing authors into our space makes it all worth it. My team and I are absolute book dragons, and we believe kids should connect with the people who dream up their favorite stories. It’s all about creating a space where characters feel like real friends.
