Interactive Storytelling and Author Events for Kids
We turn reading into an interactive adventure with quizzes, hands-on crafts, and lively author-led sessions for children.
Here are some glimpses from our very first "Author Jugalbandi" at the Indiranagar Club. It was a fulfilling morning of reading stories and interacting with enthusiastic young readers.
Our third Author Jugalbandi event took place in the beautiful Leather Lounge of Bowring Institute. The children were so engaged, and it was a wonderful afternoon filled with stories and creativity.
This was the poster for a free, hands-on storytelling session I conducted at the Indiranagar Club. We read a book and then designed our own rock gardens, combining literature with a fun craft.
Announcing "Tales with the Munchkins," our new program designed for different age groups. We offer parent-toddler interactions, storybooks with activities for preschoolers, and book discussions with writing workshops for older kids.
Save the date! This was the announcement for our free Author Jugalbandi event at the Indiranagar Club, featuring two book readings and three fun activities for kids.
Our second Author Jugalbandi was held at The Little Gym in Whitefield. We invited families to join us for a free event filled with stories, quizzes, and creative fun.
Here's the poster for our event at the Bowring Institute. We planned two book readings and three activities, including a team quiz, drawing, and purposeful planting.
About this collection
These aren't static reading sessions. In our Author Jugalbandi events, we mix live reading with quizzes, drawing, and thematic crafts, so your child connects with the story on multiple levels. It is about turning that hour into a creative playground where kids are participants, not just listeners.
When I started these sessions, I wanted to move away from the 'sit still and listen' model of reading. Books are alive, and my goal is to show kids exactly that.
Why Our Approach is Different
We don't just open a book and read cover to cover. We dissect stories. For a book about a garden, we might actually plant seeds. For a story featuring a specific regional snack, we talk about the culture behind it. These workshops are designed to build vocabulary, spark curiosity, and help kids see themselves in the stories they read.
What to Expect
We structure our events to cater to different developmental stages:
- Toddlers (1-3 years): Sensory-focused sessions using picture books and movement to build a love for sounds and rhythm.
- Juniors (3-6 years): We bring in props, puppets, and simple drawing activities to make the narrative stick.
- Seniors (6-10 years): This is where we introduce book discussions, creative writing prompts, and analytical quizzes to help them express their own ideas.
Where We Meet
We partner with community spaces like the Indiranagar Club and Bowring Institute in Bangalore to host these events. If you are a librarian, a café owner, or part of a residential committee looking to host a session that gets kids off screens and into books, reach out. I handle all the materials, the script, and the engagement, so you can just bring the children.
Fun with the Munchkins
I'm Deepika. As a mother and educator, I believe the right story can open a child's mind like nothing else. Whether we are exploring local folktales or modern adventures, my goal is to make reading the most exciting part of your child's week.
