In this session of our free Kannada Book Club, we read 'Adalu Atike Bekilla' and played traditional games that require no toys, bringing joy to both kids and parents.
About this collection
These sessions aren't just about reading, we mix in interactive games, craft activities, and even sign language so kids connect with Kannada naturally. Whether your child is fluent or just starting to learn, it is a zero-pressure space to explore our culture through stories.
We started this club in partnership with DHI Bookstore because we noticed many kids were missing out on the joy of Kannada literature. It is often treated as a language to be studied rather than a medium to be enjoyed, and we want to change that.
Our sessions are designed to be light and inclusive. We read a mix of classics and new releases, focusing on stories that spark imagination rather than just teaching grammar. We have seen kids as young as five come in unsure of the language and leave excitedly shouting about the cow in the story or the game they just played.
Here is how we keep it engaging:
- Beyond the Book: Every session includes a hands-on activity, like making masks for the characters we read about or playing traditional games that require no toys.
- Small Group Focus: We keep our sessions intimate at our Akshayanagar and JP Nagar branches so that every child feels comfortable participating.
- Community Connection: This is a space for parents too. You will often see us learning Indian Sign Language together or discussing the nuance of a particular story with the kids.
If you are worried about the level of fluency, please do not be. The goal is to build a relationship with the language, not a perfect vocabulary. Drop us a message, and come by for a session to see how we bring stories to life.
Kahaani Box Kids Library
We are the book dragons at Kahaani Box, and this club is our way of celebrating our local stories. We believe that when a child finds a book they cannot put down, that is where the magic begins.
