Featured Training Philosophy & Methodology at IJJ
We don’t just teach random moves. Come see the systems, wrestling foundations, and cage-specific techniques that actually make our fighters effective.
This is our core philosophy in action. Whether I shoot or my opponent shoots, I score. We build fighters who can control the engagement through superior wrestling and takedown skills.
Jiu-jitsu is more than just physical moves; it's a deliberate and detailed study. Here, we are breaking down footage, analyzing techniques, and understanding the 'why' behind every action. This is how you build fight IQ.
Our training isn't theoretical. It's tested in the cage. This is one of our fighters applying his skills, blending striking with wrestling to control the fight and secure the win at Superhuman Battleground.
The fight is often won in these moments. This is a look at the technical details of NOGI grappling, where we focus on securing dominant positions and methodically working towards a submission.
In our advanced classes, we dissect every detail. Here, I am explaining how to react to an opponent's stance, using techniques like the arm drag and 'chukpa' to create openings for a takedown.
The strength of our institute is our community. This is our team after a tough seminar, a group of dedicated individuals committed to improving themselves and each other on the mats every single day.
Here is our full weekly schedule. We offer a range of classes to fit your goals, including Beginners NOGI, Advanced GI, Kickboxing, and Women-Only sessions. Find your spot and start your journey.
About Featured
Our methodology isn't a mix of random drills. When you step on our mats in Sadashiva Nagar, you will notice we prioritize cage-specific wrestling and positional control over flashy, ineffective techniques. We spend more time drilling the 'why' behind an arm drag or a wall pin than repeating empty motions, because knowing how to handle pressure is what actually wins fights.
Building a Complete Fighter
At the Institute of Jiu-Jitsu, we believe the sport has become too focused on stalling and overly restrictive rules. We train differently. Our core philosophy is built on efficiency. If a technique does not work under pressure or against a resisting opponent, we deconstruct it, analyze it, and fix it.
The MMA Approach We do not separate grappling and striking into different worlds. Our MMA system integrates wrestling, kickboxing, and ground game into a single, cohesive approach. We focus heavily on wall wrestling and cage control, acknowledging that the cage changes the geometry of a fight. You will learn to use the fence to pin opponents or to stand back up, which is a vital skill often ignored in pure sport grappling gyms.
A Detailed Study Whether you are training for competition or just want to test your mettle, you need to understand the mechanics. We break down footage and analyze every movement. From mastering the K-guard to understanding leverage points in a takedown, our classes are designed to build your Fight IQ. We do not hand out belts for attendance. Every stripe and belt is earned through effort, technical understanding, and sparring performance.
Our Community The environment is industrial and raw. We train on a rooftop in Sadashiva Nagar with natural ventilation. It is not an air-conditioned luxury studio, but it is a place where you will find a tight-knit squad of beginners and international fighters who push each other daily. We are about the grind, not the hype.
