NOGI Grappling Classes in Sadashiva Nagar
Real, high-intensity ground game training for those who want to learn effective grappling without the Gi. No fluff, just technical work.
Here I am teaching how to counter a standard leg defense. We focus on the immediate follow-up, ensuring that once you clear a defense, you are already attacking and advancing your position.
We constantly analyze technique to understand why it succeeds or fails. This is a breakdown of the 'chukpa' takedown, diagnosing why it might not work and how to adjust based on the opponent's reaction.
A dynamic sequence from a NOGI grappling roll, showing a sweep from the bottom position. This highlights the importance of being dangerous and offensive from anywhere in a fight.
Positional sparring is key to our methodology. These drills from our Tuesday morning class isolate specific scenarios, allowing fighters to sharpen their skills in transitions, escapes, and submissions.
About The Ground Game: NOGI Grappling
We don't use 'mixed' classes as a catch-all; our NOGI curriculum forces you to link takedowns with wall control, because we train with the reality of an actual fight in mind, not just point-scoring sport rules. You will spend as much time on positional control and transition mechanics as you do on the actual submission work, ensuring you are safe and dangerous from any angle.
Transitioning to NOGI grappling removes the crutch of the Gi, exposing every gap in your technique. At our Sadashiva Nagar facility, we strip away the traditional fluff to focus on what actually works under pressure. Our methodology relies heavily on positional sparring, where we isolate specific scenarios—like escapes from bad spots or working from the guard—so you learn to solve problems rather than just mimicking moves.
Why NOGI Matters
When you can't grab a collar or a sleeve, you are forced to rely on pure leverage, timing, and weight distribution. We drill the 'why' behind every movement, covering everything from K-Guard entries to complex leg-lock systems like ashi garami. We don't just drill for the sake of it; we analyze why a technique works against a resisting opponent and how to adjust when they react.
The Training Environment
Our facility features large, continuous vinyl mats and wall padding designed for wall-wrestling and cage-control drills. Whether you are working on ground-and-pound fundamentals or sharpening your transitions, the setup is built for the intensity of competitive MMA grappling. We keep the groups tight, ensuring that you get meaningful feedback from coaches and partners who are there to push you, not just to roll for fun.
