Traditional Yoga for Children
I teach yoga not as a quick exercise, but as a lifelong discipline. My classes for children (ages 4-12) are designed to cultivate mindfulness, perseverance, and patience in a quiet, focused environment.
A young student, Sreenika, practices a chin stand variation against the wall. My approach with children is to be tough but compassionate, instilling faith in their own abilities.

About Yoga for the Next Generation
This is not a hobby class designed to simply keep children busy. When your child steps onto the mat in my studio, they learn the same alignment-based Hatha Yoga that I teach adults. We use ropes, wall supports, and traditional games to build physical coordination, but the real work is internal: learning to sit with silence and finding the discipline to hold a pose even when it becomes uncomfortable.
In a world of constant digital distraction, I provide a space where innocence is nurtured rather than rushed. My methodology relies on the belief that children are capable of deep focus if guided with patience. We do not chase flashy milestones; we build a foundation.
The Methodology
We utilize props—the Kurunta wall, blocks, and chairs—to ensure safety and structural precision. This teaches the child that their body is capable of more than they imagine, provided they respect the process. It is about understanding the mechanics of the body rather than just mimicking movements.
The Logistics
Classes are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5 PM to 6 PM. The environment is one of mutual growth. I guide, I correct, and I observe.
Beyond Fitness
We incorporate elements of Indian philosophy and traditional games that develop not just muscle, but character. The child learns that 'doing' is secondary to 'being'. This path requires consistency. If you are looking for a routine that helps your child navigate the modern world with a calm, centered mind, bring them to the mat. We are building a generation that knows how to grow, glow, and remain grounded.
Harsha Nagaraj
I have spent 12 years on this path, and teaching children has become one of the most rewarding parts of my practice. I don't treat them like kids who need distraction; I treat them as practitioners who are ready to learn the value of a steady, disciplined mind.
