From prestigious auditoriums like the NCPA to high-energy music festivals, I bring the rhythm and tradition of the Punjab Gharana to grand stages. Every performance is an opportunity to connect with a wider audience.

The legendary Sivamani sir performing at the Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Maharutsav. It was an honor to be on the same stage, providing tabla support for his dynamic percussion ensemble.

A wide view of the stage at the Ustad Alla Rakha Sangeet Sammelan in Chandigarh. Performing with a full percussion ensemble is a powerful experience of collective rhythm.

The full Sitar Symphony, led by Pt. Ravi Chary ji, on stage at the Kala Rang festival in Goa. Being part of such a grand and unique orchestral arrangement was incredible.

A tribute performance to the maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain ji. Sharing the stage with my Guru Ustad Fazal Qureshi ji and other esteemed artists for this occasion was a moment of immense gratitude.

A focused moment during the "Dipesh Varma Collective" concert at NCPA Mumbai. This performance was a beautiful blend of different musical traditions on a prestigious stage.

Performing at Guruvandan 2024, an event by Swar Sanskruti Music Academy. Accompanying a fellow artist at this tribute to our gurus was a deeply meaningful experience.

With fellow musicians after the grand performance at the Dagdusheth Halwai Maharutsav in Pune. The bond we share off-stage is just as important as the music we create on-stage.

With the one and only Sivamani sir. His energy and mastery are legendary, and learning from him just by being around him is a blessing.

Another cherished photo with Sivamani sir. His warmth and encouragement mean the world to a young artist like me.

A group photo with Sivamani sir and Runa didi. These moments with musical legends are treasures I will keep with me forever.

About Grand Stages & Music Festivals

When performing at large festivals or venues like the NCPA, the technical setup is just as important as the music. I always insist on an acoustic sound check at least 90 minutes before showtime. This allows me to balance my tabla and percussion instruments with your sound system, ensuring the Sennheiser mics capture that raw, authentic tonal quality of the Punjab Gharana even in a packed auditorium.

Performing on a grand stage requires a different kind of energy compared to an intimate baithak. While the roots of my music stay firmly in the Punjab Gharana tradition, the presentation adapts to the space. Whether it is a solo recital or providing rhythmic support for a larger percussion ensemble like the Dipesh Varma Collective, my focus remains on clarity and collective timing.

My Approach to Large-Scale Events

  • Collaboration & Sync: I have had the honor of sharing the stage with legends like Sivamani sir and Pt. Ravi Chary ji. I am comfortable with complex stage setups, including syncing with click tracks or performing alongside fusion jazz bands and DJ sets.
  • Instrument Versatility: For larger festivals, I often expand my toolkit beyond just the tabla to include djembe, congo, surdo, and darbuka. This versatility allows me to fill the sonic space effectively, whether the requirement is classical fusion or high-energy world music.
  • Logistics: I handle the transit of delicate instruments personally. For festival bookings, I coordinate directly with your sound engineers to ensure my microphone requirements are met well before the show, leaving no room for last-minute stress.

If you are planning a festival, a corporate showcase, or a public concert, I am happy to discuss how my percussion work can complement your existing lineup of artists. Let us create a rhythm that stays with the audience.
