A look at my musical journey—from sharing the stage with icons like Arijit Singh and Asha Bhosle ji to the soul of intimate baithaks. Every performance is a new conversation in rhythm.

This was a beautiful baithak with sarod player Abhishek Borkar bhai. Live music is full of surprises; a string snapped mid-performance, and I had to transition into a tabla solo. It is these spontaneous, heartfelt moments that make every performance a unique experience.

Performing at the Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Sangeet Mahotsav in Pune. It is a blessing to play on such a grand and devotional stage, sharing the rhythm of the tabla with thousands of music lovers.

A truly honored moment sharing the stage with the maestro, Arijit Singh, at a show in Jamnagar. His humility and musical genius are an inspiration, and performing with him was an unforgettable experience.

A short tabla solo during a fusion performance with The Golden Chakra at Soho House Mumbai. I love blending the traditional sounds of the tabla with contemporary jazz and sound healing music in modern, intimate settings.

On stage at the NCPA for their "One World Many Musics" series with the Dipesh Varma Collective. It's a joy to be part of ensembles that explore the fusion of Hindustani, Carnatic, and world music.

A blessed moment in the studio with the queen of melody, Asha Bhosle ji. To be in the presence of such a legend and witness her timeless artistry is an honor I will always cherish.

Even while waiting at the airport, the music doesn't stop. Here is a spontaneous 'padhant' (rhythmic recitation) of a chakardaar composition with my friend Shriraj Tamhankar. My riyaaz continues everywhere.

The majestic Ran Baas Palace in Patiala, the setting for the Sur Mahal baithaks. Performing at such a historic venue, steeped in culture, adds another layer of magic to the music.

Ready with my tabla, my closest companion. For me, every beat is an expression of devotion and a story I share from the heart. This is more than music; it is a form of prayer.

About Featured

When I play, it is never just about hitting the drums. Whether we are in a studio with a legend or at a live concert, I am always looking for that 'sam'—the exact moment where the rhythm locks in perfectly with the artist. For your event, please note that for high-energy fusion sets, I arrive 90 minutes early for a full line check, while classical baithaks require a more acoustic, sensitive microphone setup to capture the true tone of the bayan.

My Approach to Performance

Music is a dialogue. Whether I am performing a solo recital at the NCPA or jamming with a fusion collective, my goal remains the same: to listen and respond. My training in the Punjab Gharana gave me the technical foundation, but it is the live stage that has taught me to adapt.

Types of Performances I Offer

  • Intimate Baithaks: These are my favorite sessions. In a private setting, we can focus on the nuances of raga and tala without the need for heavy amplification. It is just the music, the space, and the listeners.
  • Fusion & Commercial Sets: For events that need energy, I switch to a hybrid kit. This involves blending traditional tabla with global percussion like the djembe and cajon, working alongside DJs and bands to keep the dance floor alive.
  • Collaborative Recitals: I have been blessed to accompany maestros and upcoming artists alike. If you are a vocalist or instrumentalist looking for accompaniment that respects your space while adding depth, let us connect.

Technical Commitment

I take the sound of my instruments very seriously. My professional grade Dayacom and Bayan set is tuned to your specific scale. For larger venues, I ensure coordination with the sound team well in advance to prevent feedback issues. My aim is simple: to remove the technical barriers so the audience can hear the music exactly as it is meant to be heard.

I’m Harmeet Singh, and for me, the tabla is a vessel for connection. My training taught me the rules of the Punjab Gharana, but the stage taught me how to break them with grace. Whether it is a quiet, acoustic evening or a high-energy fusion set, I am here to listen, respond, and make music that feels real.
