The Akhada: Our Real Boxing Training Ground
This is where we cut the fluff. There are no mirrors or air conditioners here, just a ring, heavy bags, and the space to put in real work. If you are here to train hard and learn to fight, you are in the right place.
This is our ring, our akhada. It's a simple, no-frills space dedicated to one thing: the art of boxing. The Indian flag hangs overhead, a reminder of what we represent.
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence is a habit we build every day in this gym, as you can see from this group training session.
You cannot succeed if you don't have the mentality to focus only on today. This clip shows the focused environment of our outdoor training sessions.
What does it take to be a champion? Hard work, discipline, no days off, and consistency. We instill this mindset in our youngest boxers from day one.
Push yourself, because no one else is going to do it for you. A montage of a typical training session, with students working on bags, skipping, and doing drills together.
About The Akhada: Our Training Ground
Our sessions last 90 minutes and you need to be ready from the first second. We start with a 2-3km outdoor group run to build your engine before hitting the heavy bags, skipping ropes, and doing pad work in the ring. This is a group environment with 15 to 30 other students, so come prepared to sweat, bring your own gloves, and be ready to push yourself alongside the others.
Why We Train Like This
People ask me why I don't put mirrors or AC in the gym. The answer is simple: if you are looking at your reflection, you are not focused on your punch. If you are comfortable, you are not training hard enough. Boxing is about raw performance and mental toughness, and my gym in Laxman Vihar is built entirely around that philosophy.
The Daily Routine
We operate on a 6-day-a-week schedule because consistency is the only way to build a fighter. Whether you are a total beginner or an athlete, the grind is the same:
- Warm-up: We don't skip this. A 2-3km run is mandatory to prep your body.
- Conditioning: You will use PVC ropes for high-repetition skipping and calisthenics like bricks-elevated push-ups and pull-ups to build functional strength.
- Boxing Fundamentals: We rotate through stance, footwork, and combinations. You will spend 3-5 rounds on heavy bags to find your rhythm and power.
- Ring Time: The competition-sized ring is where we refine your movement and defense through guided pad work.
What You Need to Know
This is a semi-open industrial shed with a tin roof. It gets hot, it gets loud, and it gets real. We use blue interlocking EVA foam mats, and while we have some communal gloves, I strongly suggest you buy your own. Pricing is between ₹1500 and ₹2000 per month. If you want a comfortable, air-conditioned workout, there are plenty of other places for that. If you want to become a stronger, more disciplined version of yourself, come to the Akhada.
