Discover the meditative joy of creating with clay. Our project-based handbuilding workshops in Indiranagar guide you through pinching, coiling, and slab techniques to create your own functional art.

On the last day of our Potter's Wheel course, we dive into handbuilding techniques to decorate surfaces. Here, students are adding delicate floral sprigs to their wheel-thrown mugs, adding a personal, sculptural touch.

About Creative Handbuilding Workshops

We keep our batches small, limited to 5 students, so you get direct, one-on-one time to master the craft. Whether you are pinching, coiling, or slab-building, we focus on the practical 'jugaad'—those simple, clever hacks that help you build structural integrity and prevent cracks before your work even hits the kiln.

Handbuilding is the purest way to start your pottery journey. Unlike the wheel, where you fight gravity to center clay, handbuilding lets you slow down and feel the structure of your piece as it takes shape. In my Indiranagar studio, we focus on three core methods: pinch pots, coil baskets, and slab construction.

We do not just make shapes; we learn how clay behaves. You will discover why scoring and slipping properly is the difference between a beautiful piece and a cracked one, how to manage moisture levels, and how to create textures that define your unique style. Whether you are building a geometric planter, a complex luminary, or a set of mugs, you will walk away with 6-8 finished, functional ceramic pieces.

My approach is highly collaborative. Because we work in small groups, I can hover, correct your technique, and share specific studio hacks that make challenging forms easier to achieve. We also cover surface decoration, using everything from lace impressions to carving tools, so your work looks distinctly yours. If you are looking to disconnect from the digital noise and spend your weekends getting your hands messy in a welcoming space, this is where you belong.

I am Gauri, and I built this studio for the messy hands and big smiles that come with clay. I love teaching the nitty-gritty of handbuilding because I know how satisfying it is to make something functional from a simple lump of earth. Come find your studio fam here in Indiranagar.
